Debut | Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars |
Valentina was a seductive, power-hungry vixen who was obsessed with birds. She was often accompanied by Dodo, her oafish bird sidekick whom she often scolded and abused. She was the last boss of the Nimbus Land area in Super Mario RPG.
Background
Valentina made an attempt to take over Nimbus Land by imprisoning King and Queen Nimbus, telling the public they had fallen ill, and filled the castle with her own bird guards. Valentina also fooled the public by scamming them into thinking that Dodo was the long-lost Prince Mallow, and that she was going to marry him. This would legally make her the queen of Nimbus Land. In order to prevent interferance, she hired Fly Away to stop outsiders from reaching Nimbus Land from Bean Valley.
But a thorn in her plans came when Mario arrived in Nimbus Land accompanied by the real Mallow. After Mario and Mallow caught up with Valentina, she attempted to flee the castle. However, she was held up by several villagers outside, and Mario soon caught up with her, ensuing the following battle. After being defeated, Valentina escaped with Dodo and accidentally dropped the key to the room where the king and queen were being held.
Dodo accidentally dropped Valentina soon afterwards, but this turned out to be a stroke of luck. She landed on the balcony of Booster's Tower, where she was swayed by Booster's words into marriage. They were seen getting married in the ending, although Booster appeared to run out on the wedding and leave Valentina at the altar.

Trivia
- Her American name is a combination of Valentine (as in Valentine's Day, a holiday celebrating love) and Tina (a common female name).
- Her Japanese name is Margarita, named after a type of alcohol. It was likely changed in the American version to remove the alcohol reference.
- Valentina is also known for her risque appearance, which is surprising considering Nintendo's family-friendly image.
