Articuno is the first of the original three legendary bird Pokémon.
Information
Articuno is a bird with powerful ice-based abilities. Its wings appear to be translucent and are said to be made of ice. It has control over ice and can chill the air with its wings, and thus causes snow to fall by flapping its wings. It can even create blizzards out of moisture in the air. Articuno is known to appear to doomed travellers who are lost in icy mountains. Like most legendary Pokémon, it's gender is a mystery and it is incapable of producing offspring.
Appearances
Mainstream Games
Articuno can only be caught in Pokémon: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen. In these games one Articuno is found in the fourth basement of the Seafoam Islands.
Other Games
In Pokémon Pinball, Articuno can be caught in the Seafoam Islands. An Articuno egg is also found in the Cave area of Pokémon Snap. The egg can be hatched by playing the Pokéflute for a group of Jynx surrounding the egg. Articuno also appears in Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2.
