They fight amongst themselves in order to choose the leader. Most Pokémon retreat upon hearing Houndoom's eerie howling, and long ago it was believed that Houndoom's howls could summon the grim reaper. Houndoom can breathe out flames which originates from toxins burning within their body. Apparently, those burned by the flames that Houndoom breathes will always feel the pain due to the toxins contained within.
