Buizel is an aquatic weasel-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. Its evolved form is Floatzel.

Information

Buizel resembles a weasel with otter-like features, and it has two tails that rotates like a screw to propel itself through the water. It also has a flotation sac that resembles an inflatable collar and collapses when it dives. Buizel's tails also slice through clinging seaweed. They usually float with their heads above the water to look out for prey.

It evolves into Floatzel at Level 26.

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Buizel could be found somewhat commonly at Routes 205, 213 and 224 (rarely and in Diamond/Pearl only) and at Valley Windworks. It was also found at Route 212 in Platinum.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at Routes 4, 6, 9, 10, 13, 21, 22, 24, 25, 25, 27, 28, 32, 34, 35, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 47, outside the Ruins of Alph and Mt. Silver when Sinnoh Sound was playing on the radio. It also appeared at the Safari Zone's Meadow area when enough enough Water objects were present. It could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's White Lake course and could be transferred from there to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In Black and White, it was found by surfing at Routes 11 and 14.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at The Nightmare and Marine Resort. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Curl Bay and the Ice Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Bright Beach. Buizel also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Beach Zone.

• In the Pokémon anime, a Buizel was initially shown belonging to a family of circus performers in the ninth movie, and one was also featured in a Pikachu short. During the Sinnoh series, Dawn initially caught a boisterous Buizel with a love of fighting. In a later episode she traded the Buizel to Ash for his Aipom, as the Buizel was more interested in gym battles while the Aipom seemed to prefer the Pokémon Contests which Dawn competed in. Ash used it for most of his gym battles afterwards and left it behind before moving on to Unova.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Pearl caught a Buizel during the Diamond/Pearl arc. It was disobedient because of a mistrust of humans it had that sprouted from Team Galactic's attack on the lakes.

Trivia

• Its name seems to be a combination of "buoy" (as it is an aquatic term, and it floats above water like a buoy) with "weasel".
