Slippy Toad is one of the primary supporting characters of the Star Fox series, who is known for being the character who most often has to be rescued from enemies. He acts as the chief mechanic for the Star Fox Team, and his technical skills make him an invaluable asset to the team despite not being the greatest pilot.
Background
The son of Beltino Toad, Slippy was enlisted in the Star Fox team after it had been reformed under Fox McCloud. Although Slippy was not quite as skilled a pilot as the others, his skill with inventing made up for that one disadvantage. He developed the Landmaster and co-created the Blue Marine with his father. As such, his skills in the Landmaster surpassed his teammates. However, while in the Arwing he typically needed constant cover from his wingmates as he was relatively unskilled as a pilot. Because of this, he was often criticized by Falco. His technical expertise also allowed him to identify the enemy's level health.
During their first mission in Star Fox 64, Slippy was able to provide the team with the Landmaster and Blue Marine that Fox used in several key missions. However, while flying against the Star Fox team, he met a temporary rival in the form of Andrew Oikonny, a fellow greenhorn pilot who took to targeting Slippy. Together the team was able to pierce the defenses of Planet Venom and defeat Andross.
In the eight years after, Slippy started working with Corneria's weapon R&D, despite remaining on the Great Fox working with ROB 64. When Fox finally received a mission on planet Sauria in Star Fox Adventure, Slippy provided help only in the form of providing useful technological gadgets. A year later, Slippy returned to the Arwing to fly alongside the Star Fox team in Stat Fox Assault. During this time he found out his father had become the weapons Research Director for Corneria. Together, the Star Fox team was able to stop the Aparoid invasion and save the Lylat system.
Two years before Star Fox Command, Slippy met a girl named Amanda and the two fell in love. As Slippy began to spend more time with Amanda (and even proposed to her), he spent less time with the Star Fox squadron, which led to his silent withdrawal from the team. Slippy was presumably on Aquas when the Anglars attacked; Fox could either contact him immediately from Corneria, or rendezvous with Falco at the Asteroid Belt (since Amanda begged Fox not to ask Slippy to rejoin the team).
If the former, Slippy met with Fox on Corneria, where they then intercepted a message from Lucy Hare, and chose to either deliver the message to Peppy or go to Lucy's aid on Fichina. Either way, they then traveled to the Asteroid Belt to assist Beltino and met up with Falco in the process. If the latter, however, Fox and Falco went to Aquas to recruit Slippy, only to find him brainwashed by Octoman, an Anglar henchmen. Along with Amanda, they defeated Octoman and freed Slippy of his control.
Possible Fates
In Ending 1 Fox, Slippy, and Falco then went to Katina to search for Krystal. While Fox went off on his own, Slippy and Falco met up with Bill Grey, having some difficulty holding back the Anglar invasion. They helped him fight off the attack, then met up with Fox and Krystal at Titania, where they recovered a device that could neutralize the acid in the Venom Sea. They went to Venom and defeated the Emperor Anglar, then returned to Aquas to find Amanda, who decided to join the Star Fox squadron as well.
Slippy turned out the same in most of the endings, though in Ending 7 he went to Aquas on his own to find Amanda. They intercepted a vital message from the Anglars and defeated Zako, but Slippy chose to remain on Aquas with Amanda rather than deliver the message (in other storylines, Peppy does receive information about the neutralizing device on Titania from Slippy). They were married that same day and had several children. Slippy was then shown several decades later, aged and regaling several children with tales of his time with Star Fox. He was also shown to wonder what his old friends were doing.
In Ending 2, where Fox and Krystal's son decideed to reform Star Fox in the future, (one of) Slippy's sons joined the team as well.

Video Games
- Slippy has made recurring non-playable appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series. In every game from Super Smash Bros. Melee onwards, it has been possible to trigger conversations among the Star Fox members by having one of the Star Fox characters perform a smash taunt in one of the levels from the series. He and other Star Fox members also made a small appearance in the Adventure Mode of Melee, where they attacked in their Arwings as reinforcements for either Fox or Falco in the Star Fox stage. In Brawl, if Solid Snake activates a codec conversation while battling Falco in the Shadow Moses Island level (reached in a similar manner as the special Star Fox conversations), Slippy will appear instead of one of Snake's allies to talk about Falco, having hacked Snake's channel. Trophies of Slippy have also appeared in Melee, Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U. In Brawl, there are also two stickers of him, using art from Star Fox 64 and Assault.
- In Super Mario Maker, Slippy is among the costumes that Mario can transform into when using a Mystery Mushroom. His costume can be unlocked by completing a 100-Mario Challenge.
- In the Nintendo Switch version of Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Slippy appears with the rest of Star Fox as part of Fox's playable guest appearance. His role is the same as in the normal Star Fox games.
Trivia
- In Assault and Command, Slippy is the one member of Star Fox without a rival in Star Wolf, due to Andrew Oikonny's absence.
- In the descriptions of his trophies from Melee and the 3DS/Wii U Smash, it is said that he and Fox went to school together when they were young.
