A rather simple space rocket compared to the Dolphin, the Ship presented to Olimar and Louie for their return to the Pikmin planet includes a treasure hold, a semi-intelligent exploration pod, and seating for two. When first seen, it was battered and rust-covered and had obviously been at Hocotate Freight for something in the range of two millennia. Despite its age, it was still able to function as a guide and a treasure appraiser to the two captains, and even had a compartment for purple and white Pikmin to sleep in during the nighttime. After the debt had been repaid, the Ship was rewarded with gold-plating and returned Olimar and the President to the Pikmin planet to gather even more treasure.

Background

The Ship is rather uptight and only grudgingly allows the captains to store bug bodies within it. It can be sarcastic at times, though not without the seriousness that all machines are incapable of losing. Sometimes it can be too serious, leading to comments that would be offensive were they not from a decrepit old shuttle. Olimar has wondered from time to time if the Ship might mutiny against him, since they don't seem to get along very well.

Trivia

• The Ship is responsible for (almost) all of the names of the treasures in Pikmin 2.
• If you collect all of the treasures within a "set", the Ship will write a Sales Pitch to go along with them.
• The Ship appears as a piece of junk in the Space Junk Galaxy of Super Mario Galaxy.
