Yoshi Touch & Go is a simple platformer game for the Nintendo DS. It was originally designed for the Nintendo Gamecube as Balloon Trip and was exhibited at E3 2004, but Shigeru Miyamoto decided that it would have more impact as a DS game.
Story
The game starts off following the opening story of Yoshi's Island and depicts what happens after Baby Mario is dropped. It could be seen as a sort of prequel set before the main game of Yoshi's Island.
Gameplay
The game has a heavy use of the touch screen for guiding Baby Mario through the sky and controlling Yoshi in sidescrolling stages. The touch screen can be used to guide Yoshi to avoid enemies and other obstacles, and tapping the screen can make Yoshi through eggs. This game does not have a set narrative and follows the arcade tradition of playing repeatedly (or possibly endlessly) for high scores.
Modes include Score Attack, Marathon and Time Attack (the latter of which is about saving Baby Luigi from Kamek's Toadies), as well as the unlockable Challenge and VS Modes. Challenge Mode is Marathon with a time, while VS Mode has two players race against each other.
Legacy
Sequels
The game has not had a proper follow-up, but Yoshi's Island DS was later released for the same system, which is also based on Yoshi's Island.
