Girafarig is a bizarre giraffe-like Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games.

Information[edit]

Girafarig is a strange Pokémon which is known for having a head on its tail (the second head being reminiscent of a Chain Chomp). The tail in fact contained a small brain and would bite automatically if it detected an alluring scent or sound nearby. Sneaking up on a Girafarig from behind would basically guarantee an attempted attack from the tail. It is actually capable of instinctively fighting while facing backwards. Because the tail's brain is too small for thinking, it does not need to think and remains awake at all times to watch its surroundings.

The Girafarig is in fact a herbivore and eats primarily grass and tree shoots. When it eats, the tail is known to make chewing noises as if it were eating as well.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon Gold, Silver, HeartGold and SoulSilver Girafarig can be commonly found on Route 43. They also appeared rarely at Route 48 and the Safari Zone's Plains area in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Girafarig could also be caught at the Treehouse course of the Pokéwalker, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver.

In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Girafarig can be found in Hoenn's Safari Zone. In Diamond and Pearl, Girafarig can be found on Route 214 and Lake Valor, while in Platinum Girafarig are found at Route 221 and the Verity Lakefront.
