Staraptor is savage and solitary bird-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the third and final form in Starly's evolutionary line.
Information[edit]
Staraptor evolves from Staravia at Level 34. After evolution, Staraptor leave the Staravia flock to live alone. It has a savage nature and will courageously challenge much larger foes. Staraptor does not stop fighting even after being injured. It has sturdy wings with strong muscles in its wings and legs. Staraptor can thus easily fly while carrying a small Pokémon. This species is also known to fuss over the shape of its comb.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Staraptor has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Staravia.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Space, Staraptor was found at Mt. Mistral. This Pokémon was also quite widespread in the Pokémon Ranger games as in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia it could be found at Chicole Path, School Path, Vien Forest, Haruba Desert, Boyleland, Altru Park, Ranger Union, The Ice Lake, Chroma Road, Chroma Highlands, Shiver Camp and Oil Field Hideout, while in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs it would appear at Dolce Island, Cocona Village, Rand's House (where it could be captured but not join the player), Wireless Tower, Hinder Cape, Mitonga Road, Faldera Island, Sophian Road, Tilikule Island, Oblivia Ruins and Thunder Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Windy Prairie. Staraptor also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Granite Zone, where it acted as the caretaker.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, a Staraptor wound up wrecking Professor Rowan's lab after being accidentally provoked by Piplup in the first episode of the Sinnoh series. Other Staraptor made occasional appearances in the ownership of Reggie and Barry. Ash's Staravia eventually evolved into a Staraptor more than halfway through the Sinnoh series when it competed in and won a PokéRinger contest. It was powerful enough that Ash continued using it for his remaining gym battles as well as during several rounds of the Lily of the Valley Conference, although he left it with Professor Oak before moving on to Unova.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Staraptor appeared in a chapter of the Diamond/Pearl arc where Pearl and Dr. Footstep were able to get a ride from a wild one, although it did not obey their suggestions and wound up dropping them at Lake Valor. The mysterious cloaked Team Galactic grunt who turned out to be Sird's stand-in also had a Staraptor on his team. During the Platinum arc, Darach also used a Staraptor during his Frontier Brain battle with Platina.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "starling" (the type of bird that inspired the evolutionary line) with "raptor" (which is taken from "raptor bird", a term used to refer to a bird of prey).
