Shinx is a small, electric linx-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the first in a three-stage evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Luxio and Luxray.
Information[edit]
Shinx's forelegs have a muscle-based system of generating electricity that utilize the muscles' extension and contraction. Its body glows when it is in danger. Shinx will usually try to momentarily blind their enemies and then flee. It evolves into Luxio at Level 15.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Shinx could be found somewhat commonly at Routes 202, 203 and 204 as well as Fuego Ironworks in Diamond/Pearl or Valley Windworks in Platinum.
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at Routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 29, 33, 36, 37, 38, 39, 46 and 48 and National Park when the Sinnoh Sound was playing on the radio. It could also appear in the Safari Zone's Plains area when enough Plains objects were present. Shinx could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's Sinnoh Field course, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In White, it was found at White Forest.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Shinx could be recruited at the fourth through tenth floors of Amp Plains and the first floors of Far Amp Plains, and in Explorers of Sky it was one of the available starter Pokémon that the player could be turned into at the beginning of the game. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it could be captured at Wireless Tower and the Forest Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Fiery Furnace. Shinx has also appeared in PokéPark Wii: PIkachu's Adventure at the Meadow Zone.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Shinx have appeared in several episodes of the Pokémon anime under the ownership of trainers such as Landis and Angie amongst other minor appearances in the wild. A subplot in the tenth Pokémon movie also featured a Shinx feuding with Dawn's Piplup in an escalating battle over a berry that Shinx eventually brought to peaceful end by splitting the berry. In the Explorers of Time and Darkness, a Shinx had Team PokéPals retrieve a Gabite scale to help his sick sister.
- One chapter of Pokémon Adventures in the Diamond/Pearl arc featured a herd of Shinx and Luxio that attacked Platina. There was also a Luxio that was rejected by the group due to its broken claws which prevented it from communicating with others, but Pearl came up with an alternate method of communication which secured its place in the herd. The herd reappeared later on when the Luxray rescued a Shinx trapped under a boulder.
