Oshawott is a small otter-like Pokémon that is one of the three starter Pokémon offered in Pokémon: Black and White Versions. It is the first in a three-step evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Dewott and Samurott.
Information
Oshawott is a small, blue Pokémon that resembles a sea otter. It appears to be weak, yet it has a scalchop on its stomach that is made from the same material as claws. Oshawott is capable of removing the scalchop for use as a blade. When it is attacked, an Oshowatt immediately responds by slashing at the enemy with its scalchop.
It evolves into Dewott at Level 17.
Appearances
Mainstream Games
In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Oshawott is in the box of three starter Pokémon which Professor Juniper sends to the player character's house at the beginning of the game. If the player does not choose Oshawott, it goes to either Cheren (if the player chooses Tepig) or Bianca (if the player chooses Snivy).
Other Games
In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Oshawott appeared at the Beginner's Park as well as the beach areas of Seabreeze Trail, Echo Valley and Rugged Flats. It was featured in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond as one of the four playable Pokémon (the others being Pikachu and the other two Unova starters), and amongst them its unique ability to swim through water. Oshawott is the game's first ally, meeting with Pikachu at the beginning of the game at the Cove Area's Seasong Beach. Oshawott escorted Pikachu to meet with the Area Keeper, Samurott, and wound up being assigned to accompany Pikachu.

Other Media
- In the Pokémon anime series, Oshawott winds up being the Pokémon Ash gets from Professor Juniper, but it is unintentional. At the lab, the Oshawott is enthralled by Ash upon first seeing him and leaves the lab secretly following Ash for several episodes until it is discovered and becomes part of Ash's party, with the professor willingly sending Ash the Oshawott's Pokéball. Oshawott has been shown as being somewhat arrogant and overly dramatic, and seeks attention from Ash. It is also known to take great care of its scalchop.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Oshawott was Bianca's starter Pokémon during the Black/White arc. It is unusually passive compared to the other two quarrelsome starter Pokémon at most times, but after it is hurt it will usually become uncharacteristically violent to put its attackers in their place.
Trivia
- The end of its name refers to "otter", and the entirety of its name may be a play on "ocean water". It could also refer to Oshawa, an area of Canada in which otters reside.
