Gorman is the name attributed to three characters who originally appeared Majora's Mask as ]]Termina|Terminian]] counterparts of Ingo. They are a trio of identical brothers.
Background[edit]
Majora's Mask[edit]
There were three Gorman brothers who were identical triplets. While the middle brother left to go into show business, the older and younger brothers stayed behind to manage the family business. However, competition from the nearby Romani Ranch made times hard for the two brothers. In retaliation, they spreading nasty rumors about their competitor and arranged to have the way to Romani Ranch blocked, among other implied acts of mischief upon the ranch, its animals and their products. This small boost to their business was soon undone when the path was opened up again by Link.
Somehow, the brothers had come into possession of Garo's Mask. Using the power of the mask, they summoned strange ghost-like beings (implied to be Garo Robes) to invade Romani Ranch and steal the cattle. Romani and Link teamed up to stop the ghosts long enough for the sun to rise, which made the ghosts retreat. Since this plan failed, the next day they disguised themselves and went after Cremia's shipment to the Milk Latte in Clock Town. Again Link stopped the two brothers and prevented them from ruining the shipment. Later on, Link talked to the two while riding on Epona, and they challenged him to a race. If Link won, they gave him Garo's Mask as a reward, since they decided they had no use for it.
The middle brother, known only as Gorman, had no talent for raising horses and instead went on to become the leader of the self-named Gorman Troupe. As a child, he had heard the Indigo-Gos perform the Ballad of the Windfish, which inspired him to become a performer so that he might meet the band. He lost sight of his dream along the way, but he managed to form his troupe consisting of himself, Guru-Guru, the Rosa sisters, and the juggling twins. He had managed to get his troupe booked to perform during the Carnival of Time in the same year that the moon was falling. Three days before the carnival, he was told by Madame Aroma that the show would be cancelled.
Finding out about the cancellation took its toll on him so much that he slept all day and stayed out all night away from the troupe. He could not bring himself to tell the others that they would not be performing. While drowning his sorrows at the Milk Bar, he overheard Toto sound-testing the Ballad of the Windfish with Link's four different forms. As he heard each individual part, he dismissed it as rubbish. But when he heard the whole song put together, he was reminded of his youth and why he got into show business. He was so choked up that he gave Link the Circus Performer's Mask, a mask that resembled his face but was constantly crying. On the next day, he planned to go ahead and leave town, although he played a game of cards with the jugglers. Once the moon was stopped, his group did end up playing at the Carnival of Time after all (and he presumably got to meet the Indigo-Gos).
There was an extra sidequest in Majora's Mask 3D. On the second day, if Link met with the middle Gorman at the Stock Pot Inn on the second day while wearing the Troupe Leader's Mask, then Gorman would request that Link bring him some Mystery Milk from his brothers. Link could carry out this request by talking to the other two Gorman Brothers at the ranch that afternoon while wearing the mask. Link then had two minutes to deliver the milk before it spoiled. If Link succeeded in this, then Gorman would let him keep the empty bottle, and in different cycles he would give him a Fishing Hole Pass instead. On cycles in which this sidequest was completed, Gorman would act nicer while Link did the sound check at the Milk Bar.
The Minish Cap[edit]
In The Minish Cap, Gorman happened to own a house in Hyrule Village. Thanks to a kinstone fusion, he got the idea to sell a house he owned and was not using. His figurine entry mentioned that his overbearing personality tended to drive away potential tenants without him realizing it, but Link ultimately managed to bring tenants for him. After selling that first house to either Din, Nayru or Farore, he later had a house built by Mutoh and the Carpenters, which he decided to sell as well. That house was sold to one of the two aforementioned girls who did not get the first house. With the money made from both endeavors, he started considering breeding pets as his next business venture. It is unknown if he ever brought that idea to fruition.
Trivia[edit]
- The name Gorman seems to refer to a Japanese word meaning 'arrogance'.
- Like Ingo, Gorman is based on Luigi in the same way that Talon is based on Mario. Unlike Ingo, who usually wears a green shirt like Luigi, the only green to be found in the brothers' wardrobe is the middle Gorman brother's shoes.
- In Majora's Mask, the two Gorman brothers at the ranch will be affected by the Circus Leader's Mask (which resembles their brother with a constant stream of tears). If Link wears the mask, the two will reminisce about their brother and show remorse about their actions, then ask Link to remove the mask because they feel uncomfortable about being that emotion. If Link wears it during their attack on Cremia's shipment, then they will linger behind without attempting any direct attacks upon the milk bottles.
- According to the middle Gorman brother, the older Gorman brother specializes in handling the horses, while the younger Gorman brother specializes in taking care of them.
