Jenna is a character from the Golden Sun series who originally appears as a supporting character and temporary party member in Golden Sun before appearing as a main party member in Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

Background[edit]

Golden Sun[edit]

Jenna was born and raised in the town of Vale, along with her brother Felix. Her best friends growing up were Isaac and Garet. However, their idyllic lifestyle was suddenly disrupted one day when a violent storm erupted from Mt. Aleph. Felix had been trapped in a river, so Jenna went to find help. She returned with Isaac and Garet after they found some Psynergy users who could help, but at that time a giant boulder suddenly came tearing through the area, seemingly killing Felix as well as Jenna's parents and Isaac's father. She was left feeling alone and depressed.

Over the next three years, Jenna tried to put the past behind her and continue living contently in the village with her aunt and grandparents. She studied Alchemy under Kraden with Isaac and Garet. Jenna was touched by Isaac and Garet's attempts to train in using Psynergy, but at the same time wished they could all just forget that tragedy, having accepted that neither her parents nor Isaac's father would be coming back. However, one day when they visited Kraden, they found a mysterious pair of figures known as Saturos and Menardi had confronted him about a secret hidden within Mt. Aleph. Kraden convinced Isaac, Garet and Jenna to accompany him in exploring Aleph to investigate their claims. They eventually did find the hidden chamber where the four Elemental Stars were stored. Due to the slippery footing, Jenna suggested making Isaac and Garet collect the stars from throughout the chamber. However, at that point Saturos and Menardi arrived, taking Jenna and Kraden hostage in order to get the Elemental Stars from Isaac and Garet. However. all four of them were uncertain that Saturos and Menardi would keep their word, so in order to earn their trust, they called in their third companion, who unmasked himself to reveal he was Felix.

Jenna was shocked by this revelation while Felix tried to explain how he had been saved from the boulder by Saturos and Menardi. Isaac wound up handing over the three Elemental Stars that they had grabbed already, but at that point the room began to erupt and collapse. Saturos and Menardi felt there was no choice but to cut and run without the last Star, so they forced Felix and Jenna to escape with them, leaving Isaac and Garet to a possible death. The fourth member of the group, Alex, convinced them to keep Jenna around as a bargaining chip in case Isaac and Garet survived with the Mars Star, although this idea offended Felix. She soon learned the details: their parents were alive too and being held hostage by the Fire Clan, whom Saturos and Menardi were a part of. Their parents would only be freed if Felix helped Saturos's group to light all four elemental lighthouses with the four Elemental Stars, with Jenna now being roped into this morally ambiguous journey as well in order to regain her family.

Isaac's group first caught up with Saturos's band at the top of the Mercury Lighthouse after Saturos and Menardi had already lit the beacon. Jenna called out to them, but Menardi forced Jenna to leave with them and had Felix calm her down. When they reached the next lighthouse, Venus Lighthouse, Felix was supposed to escort Jenna and Kraden out while Saturos and Menardi ignited it with the Mercury Star. Felix instead went back up to look after Sheba, and Jenna hesitantly went ahead, having a bad feeling about leaving behind Felix. Alex confronted them, seemingly from nowhere, about her doubt, but she proceeded to yell at him for considering her to be insensitive. Jenna wanted to try talking things over with Isaac, but Alex deemed that impossible. Jenna and Kraden split off from Alex, heading off to the meeting point at Idejima on their own. They arrived their and met up with Alex again shortly before the Venus Lighthouse's beacon was lit. This caused flood which would up washing Idejima away, splitting it into an island that drifted out to sea. Jenna and Kraden were left concerned about Felix, but Alex soon showed them to Felix and Sheba after they were conveniently washed up on shore.

The Lost Age[edit]

They were soon knocked out by another tidal wave and awoke after Idejima had crashed into the continent of Indra. Alex had disappeared, and with Saturos and Menardi dead, it was now a part led by Felix that was comprised of himself, Jenna and Sheba as well as Kraden giving them advice. As they explored the continent, they were joined by the sailor Piers, who offered to help them find the hidden city Lemuria. As they journeyed, they also wondered what to do about Isaac, which led Sheba to assume that he and Jenna were an item, a claim that Jenna nervously denied. They also gained deeper reasons to light the lighthouses once they arrived at Lemuria and learned that the lack of Alchemy could cause the entire world to wither away and die. This assured Jenna that lighting the lighthouses was the right thing and gave her a reason for her journey beyond ensuring her parents' safety.

They eventually made their way to Jupiter Lighthouse. However, they found Isaac's group exploring it at the same time, when they were caught in a trap by Agatio and Karst, members of the Mars Clan whom Alex had brought in. Felix's group intervened, intent on preventing Karst and Agatio from finishing off Isaac's group. Eventually a deal was reached in which Isaac gave Felix the Mars Stone, and Felix went up to the lighthouse with just Karst and Agatio while Jenna, Kraden, Sheba and Piers stayed behind to help Isaac's group recover. Realizing that Felix was taking too long, she went to the top of the lighthouse to find that Felix was being ambushed by Karst and Agatio. She immediately assumed joined Felix in the battle, and they were soon joined by the rest of the party. With Karst and Agatio defeated, and the lighthouse's beacon lit, a meeting was called between the two groups to finally settle their differences. She was glad to finally reach an understanding with them and hoped that they could go on a trip together after the world was saved. But for the moment, the two groups decided to work together in lighting the last lighthouse.

Together, Felix and Isaac's groups reached the top of Mars Lighthouse only to find the Wise One standing in there way, intent on preventing them from finishing the revival of Alchemy. They argued with him about the consequences of their actions and ultimately remained resolute in their decision to light the beacon. The Wise One could not truly interfere with them, so Jenna demanded he move out of their way. The Wise One did leave, but he left behind a "miracle" to stand in their way - a three-headed Doom Dragon. They were able to slay the dragon, but they then saw it was a trick by the Wise One when the dragon reverted into three human forms: Jenna and Felix's parents, as well as Isaac's father. Despite the efforts of their healers, the parents all died. They then finally lit the beacon of the Mars Lighthouse, which truly restored Alchemy and caused a Golden Sun to form. As they escaped the lighthouse, the wave of energy caused their parents to be miraculously revived. They then all made their way back towards Vale, with Jenna trying to deny how emotional she had gotten about believing her parents were dead after Piers and Mia brought it up. They finally arrived at Vale to find it and Mt. Aleph were gone due to the formation of the Golden Sun. Jenna was aghast upon discovering this, but Sheba teased Garet upon realizing that Isaac and Garet's remaining family members were safe.

Dark Dawn[edit]

Over the course of the next thirty years, Jenna and Isaac eventually married and had a son together, Matthew. While Isaac and Garet lived together in a cabin in the Game Highlands to study the effects of the Golden Sun's awakening, Jenna wound up living at Kalay with various other refugees from Vale.

Abilities[edit]

Jenna is a Mars Adept, which makes her attuned to fire-based Psynergies. However, most of her abilities are a variable depending on her class (which can change depending on which Djinn are assigned to her) and which special items she has equipped. The one Psynergy she specifically learns is Blaze, the special fire Psynergy at Magma Rock. She wields light blades and staffs in battle.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Jenna appears as an Advanced-rank Support Spirit. Her Spirit's Support effect was to enhance the power and ammo of projectile weapons. When fought in a Spirit battle, she possessed Zelda and was aided in battle by Isaac's Assist Trophy.

Trivia[edit]

  • According to Jenna's grandmother, Jenna inherited her Mars Psynergy from her mother.
