Super Famicom Wars is the last installment of the Famicom Wars series to be released on a home console (until the spinoff series Battalion Wars). The game is notable for being the first to include four player battles as well as the factions Green Earth and Blue Moon.
It was exclusively released through the Nintendo Power system in Japan. In Japan, it was later rereleased through the Virtual Consoles of the Wii in February 2010, Wii U in October 2013 and the New 3DS in 2016.
