Iron Knuckles are a type of recurring enemy in the The Legend of Zelda series. They are large armored warriors who are commonly found as guardians for palaces, dungeons, and temples. Thanks to their thick armor and skilled combat skills, they are difficult to defeat.

Information

In Adventure of Link, Iron Knuckles wield a sword and shield and fight at close range. The blue variations can shoot sword beams like Link. The boss "Rebonack" is also an Iron Knuckle that rides a floating armored horse. Statues of Iron Knuckles also appeared by most dungeons. These statues would usually yield useful objects like magic containers, but in some cases they would turn out to be real Iron Knuckles in disguise.

In Ocarina of Time, Iron Knuckles were larger armored warriors that instead wielded large battle-axes in combat. Link fought four Iron Knuckles during his quest. The first one had to be fought by Link while he was a child, while the rest were battled as an adult, including particularly strong ones in Ganon's Tower. After Nabooru had been caught by Twinrova, she was transformed into an Iron Knuckle for seven years until Link defeated her and set her free in the Spirit Temple. The same types of Iron Knuckles appeared as enemies in Majora's Mask.

• Iron Knuckles appeared as enemies in Cadence of Hyrule. This version of the Iron Knuckle wore armor and a helmet that with round shapes and did not wear weapons. Their armor made them impervious to normal attacks, and only stronger attacks could harm them. The stronger versions of Iron Knuckles were known as chieftains and captains.

Trivia

• Darknuts and Iron Knuckles have similar Japanese names. Those being Tatonakku and Aian'nakku respecitvely.
• Onox in Oracle of Seasons wears armor identical to those worn by the Iron Knuckles in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
• In Majora's Mask, the Curiosity Shop has Iron Knuckle armor kept in the back.
