Bibarel is a large yet common beaver-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the evolved form of Bidoof.

Information

Bibarel evolves from Bidoof at Level 15. It moves sluggishly out of water, but in water it can swim as well as a Feebas. Bibarel are industrious workers that busily construct their nests using stacks of branches and roots that they have cut up using their large incisors. They dam rivers with mud and bark in order to make their nests, and people appreciate this due to rivers dammed by Bibarel never overflowing their banks.

Appearances

Mainstream Games

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Bibarel could be uncommonly found at Routes 208, 209, 210 and 212 (Diamond/Pearl only), Great Marsh, Lake Valor, Lake Acuity, Valor Lakefront and Sendoff Spring. In Diamond and Pearl, it could rarely appear at Lake Verity when an Emerald cartridge was present in the GBA slot.

Bibarel could be caught at the Big Forest course of the Pokéwalker, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In Black and White, it was somewhat commonly found at the Village Bridge.

Other Games

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Bibarel could be recruited at Mt. Travail. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at the Cargo Ship, Vien Forest, Ranger School and Chroma Road. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, they appeared at Daybreak Ruins. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Windy Prairie. Bibarel also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Meadow Zone as well as the Meeting Place.

Trivia

  • Its name seems to be a play on "beaver" (particularly how it is spelled in Japanese), possibly combined with "barrel".
