CHUMP was a humble chimpanzee living in Africa until he was captured by poachers, which led him to find his way into the "lab" of the FOUL Alchemist Fellow. He experimented on the chimpanzee to give him longevity, grafting a ball-and-chain tail to the filthy ape. However, this only somehow gave him the ability of human intelligence and speech (although he still was not that smart as well as illiterate). He became smart enough to punch out the FOUL Alchemist and escape. He since took up residence among the company of the Festivity Attenders, becoming one of the stronger members while also pestering them with his need for bananas from the distant Dark Continent.
After the filthy friar, Louis of the Tubes, joined them in The Festivity Attenders: Deluge of the Dopplegangers, CHUMP started an irrational rivalry with Louis that would carry on for generations after Louis ate the last of his bananas. This led CHUMP to fool Louis into entering FOUL Alchemist Fellow's abode and a near-certain doom, until the other Festivity Attenders learned of this and rescued him.
