Background[edit]
Some Nonventures: Phillips came from a village from the North that had been "messed up" by "The Boss". He had been caught and thrown in a cell, where he eventually met Bort. He then revealed that he had to yell whatever he was thinking at the top of his voice and have a lot of trouble lying due to a disease from birth, which he later claimed was due to a witch's curse. They then met Kiki and Daemon and teamed up to escape. Besides being quite literally a pillar to stand on, Phillips seemed to offer no real talents or abilities to the group, and basically eradicated any chance of stealthy maneuvers. He voiced a pessimistic, defeatist attitude.
February 4th:
Some time after the events of Some Nonventures, Phillips surrendered to The Boss, who now went by the monkier of "The Crime Lord", while his allies lay beaten around him and would not. In exchange for his life, he began work as a groundskeeper for The Boss's castle, and has done so for five years. He also obtained a large stitching in his arm that wrote "February 4th", and serves as some sort of reminder. He expresses dissatisfaction at his current situation and is therefore given a deal by Tyche, Goddess of Fortune: If he will help others end their stories, she would reciprocate.
After a false start with some groceries, Phillips was beseeched by two different and fairly personable dimensional travellers; the happy-go-lucky Kirby of Death and the unnervingly enthusiastic Segfanatic. Once the latter shoves the former out into the the deli, he takes Phillips in the TASTS to complete Now Playing: Movie Goers, and is therefore immediately thrust into the world of the Akira Sojo movie. After meeting A Catgirl, attacking and being beaten by Big Al, and being disgusted by turkey jerky, all is forgiven. Unfortunately, everyone decides to tag along with him to defeat the movie's antagonist, the Unicorn King, preventing his "brooding and dark" atmosphere he had been going for.
