Overview[edit]
The first installment of the Fanventures series. This OG explores the world of the Mario games pre-Super Mario RPG. It lasted 17 pages (with many short replies). Chronologically it is followed by Super Mario Brothers Fanventure 2: Trapped in Sub-Con.
Plot Summary[edit]
Golem, Fire Mario, Bowser 102, RealGTX and Nick 64 are tossed into the Mushroom Kingdom mysteriously one day, and immediately trouble begins. They start a conflict with Bowser after Bowser 102 had impersonated Bowser using a Bowser costume. They were soon rescued by Flutter and Nintenfreak Jr.. Flutter initiated the group into his Para-Troop and trained them to fight Bowser.
The Fanvers had several more run-ins with Bowser and his Koopas army. First they battled a swarm of Dark Para-Troopas and then Dark Yoshis. Afterwards they had to save Flutter from a giant Blooper. Iggy and Lemmy later captured Mario and Luigi, and used mind control to turn Flutter against the others. But Flutter was eventually cured, and the Mario Bros. were freed.
Bowser's airship was shot down, but Bowser claimed that he had hidden a group of captured Toads in a shoebox somewhere. Golem believed this was a riddle meaning that the Toads were being kept in a shoebox within Tubba Blubba's Castle. But they soon found out that they were actually in a past version of the Mushroom Kingdom, before the events of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars had taken place. Flutter and Nintenfreak Jr. also claimed to have been from the same time as the other Fanvers, but they had travelled back in time to retrieve Nintenfreak's missing "I Love Dole" t-shirt.
The Fanvers made their way through the Forever Forest, with help from Professor E. Gadd. They then spent some time at the Boo's Mansion, where they took a key that they needed to access Gloomy Gulch. From there they travelled to Tubba Blubba's Castle, only to find that it was really Bowser's Ultimate Mach 17 Extraordinary Castle. After another battle with Iggy and Lemmy, the Fanvers were able to free the Toads. They were then ready to flee, but the advice of an Old Mushroom Man inspired Golem to take one last stand against Bowser. He was able to trick Bowser into stepping onto a flimsy bridge, which broke beneath Bowser's weight and sent him to a probable doom.
Golem and the other Fanvers were then able to return to the real world by basically committing suicide in the game world and giving themselves a "Game Over". Golem found himself returned to the exact time and place where he was prior to being teleported to the Mushroom Kingdom.
