Billy is a pilot in the F-Zero series. He is a simian racer who is out to prove his kind are the superior species.

Background

Although he is the first monkey to enter the F-Zero entry, this is actually a misnomer. He is actually of a simian race indigenous to the planet Odyapes. In addition to that, his name is not actually Billy but "Eeeach Koo-koo-koo Yia", which is rather difficult to pronounce by most. Despite only being seven years old, his species only lives to be 16, making him older than he actually seems. He's enthusiastic and gets along well with his other pilots, but harbors resentment against those that make fun of his running. He is apparently motivated solely by the prize money.

One of his ancestors was the first monkey (of his species) to enter space and was a trained rocket pilot. His species seems to not be specially intelligent, since he himself was trained in a laboratory in linguistic skills and eventually to enter the F-Zero races. He's since competed for two years, though he has yet to win the Grand Prix.

The Mad Wolf was specially designed for a monkey to operate, due to Billy's limited written-language skills. The navigation is guided by the use of pictures, colors, sights, and smells. For instance, in tracks where speed is appropriate, the scent of bananas are emitted in the cockpit to cause him to press the accelerator. The ship is otherwise well-balanced, although the grip is rather weak.

Other Appearances

• Billy appears in an episode of F-Zero GP Legend where he is a cowardly Dark Million who seems to reform to help the Mobile Task Force by telling them the location of Andy's corpse, although this lead turns out to be a trap.

Trivia

• In F-Zero GX, Billy's belt bears the image of Aiai the Monkey, star of SEGA's Super Monkey Ball series. This is due to SEGA having made the game.
• His ending movie in F-Zero GX is called "Jungle Fever Billy" and depicts him trying to impress smaller monkeys in a jungle by climbing a banana tree, only for the tree to collapse from the weight and leave him twitching under a pile of bananas.
