Debut Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi

Castor is a playable unit appearing in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo, BS Fire Emblem: Akaneia Senki and Shadow Dragon.

Background[edit]

Caster was the oldest of nine children living in Talys. However, his mother fell dangerously ill after giving birth to her ninth child. Castor's father had left to Galder and had not been heard from for some time, so Castor left home in order to raise money to support his family.

BS Fire Emblem[edit]

In Part 3 of BS Fire Emblem, he was seeking money to help both his mother and his younger brother with their illnesses. Hearing of wrok to be found in Archenea, he walked there without stopping for any food or water. When he finally reached Archanea, he collapsed due to going without food or water. He was soon discovered by Rickard, who gave him water and hired him to help in looting the Millenial palace. The group of four, which included Navarre and Lena in addition to Castor and Rickard, proceeded to bicker with Navarre threatening to cut Castor and Rickard's tongues off if they were lying and Rickard getting mad at Castor for calling him out when he was trying to manipulate Lena's emotions. He was more friendly with Lena, however.

The four bandits were initially captured by General Camus's men, but Nyna convinced him to release them on the outskirts of the city with even more treasure.

Book One[edit]

While looking for money to pay for his mother's medicine, he traveled to Galder (possibly also because it was his father's last known location), he wound up joining the pirates there to get the money. However in Chapter 2 if Caeda (who already knew him) spoke with him, she believed his story and immediately gave him the gold he needed for the medicine. Suddenly feeling ashamed of himself, Castor switched sides and fought for Marth's army for the remainder of the War of Darkness. After the war ended, he returned home with the medicine and also having rushed to buy clothes that he had promised for his younger sister Leen. However, he found that while he was away, Leen had sold herself to slavery to earn gold for the family. Castor eventually found her dead body lying at a sleazy bar in Warren. After this, he became a swindler in order to prevent her tragedy from repeating.

Book Two[edit]

Three years later, Castor was continuing to seek money for his mother and the rest of his family, having had no luck in Talys. However in Chapter 4 he happened across Marth, who like Caeda freely gave him the money he needed. Castor was overly greatfuly and called Marth his savior, gladly joining his army again for the War of Heroes. After the war ended, he joined Archanea's free knights and later returned to Talys to live with his mother, having collected many savings in the meantime.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Shadow Dragon, he receives Support Bonuses from Caeda.
  • The designer's notes on the old official Fire Emblem website indicate that Castor is about three years older than Caeda. This is also the source of the information regarding Leen and the rest of Castor's family (who are never mentioned in the games beyond Castor mentioning a younger brother in BS Fire Emblem).
