Rickard is a playable unit appearing in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo, BS Fire Emblem: Akaneia Senki and Shadow Dragon
Background[edit]
Rickard was an effeminate rogue who described himself as a "small-time thief with big-time aspirations". He was an old friend of fellow thief Julian, whom he idolized and called his "big bro".
BS Fire Emblem[edit]
He somehow came to befriend Lena some time after she fled from Macedon. He came to name her an honorary thief, and she wanted him to put what he stole towards charity. Rickard was reluctant at worse to go along with this plan, but he would often play off of Lena's emotions to get what he wants, as could be seen in one point when he pretends to cry to get Lena to defend him in an argument. In Part 3 of BS Fire Emblem, he and Lena wound up recruiting Castor and Navarre as they looted the Millenial Palace, shortly after it was occupied by General Camus's men. They were at first successful, but Camus's soldiers eventually captured them until Lena and Nyna talked him into releasing them with even more treasure.
Book One[edit]
Rickard was first seen in Chapter 6 (5 SNES), where he had been cuaght breaking into Aurelis Castle and imprisoned. After being saved and talked to by Marth or Julian, he would join with Marth's army out of gratitude, teasing Julian by saying that his change of heart was caused by a pretty face. After the war ended, Rickard returned home seemingly to live in peace, but a surge of break-ins and purse-snatchings implied that Rickard did not turn away from his thieving ways.
Book Two[edit]
Three years later, Rickard appeared during the War of Heroes where he came to loot Olbern Castle, appearing subsequently in Chapters 5 and 6 until he was recruited. He could be recruited by Julian, whom he had wanted to earn money with until learning of his changed ways. He also acted as if he were love with Julian seemingly to make him uncomfortable and said he'd follow Julian if he abandoned him for a "pretty sister". Following the end of the war, Rickard returned to his thieving ways and the narration went as far to say that Rickard truly was a fool.
Book Two[edit]
- In Shadow Dragon, he receives Support Bonuses from Julian.
