Dustox is a moth-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the third and final form in one branch of Wurmple's evolutionary line. Its counterpart on the alternate branch is Beautifly.

Information[edit]

Dustox evolves from a Cascoon at Level 10. It is a nocturnal Pokémon that is instinctively attracted by light, and because of this they are drawn away from the fields and mountains which they normally inhabit to the bright lights of cities at night. Dustox wind up gathering by streetlights and stripping leaves off of roadside trees for food in cities. It also releases a horribly toxic dust every time that it flaps its wings which can make even a pro wrestler sick. Dustox also uses its antennae-like radar to search for food.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

Originally, Dustox was primarily obtained by evolving a Cascoon. In Pearl, it was rarely found at Routes 224 and 230 and Eterna Forest, while in Platinum it could be found at Routes 205, 224 and 229 as well as Eterna Forest. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Dustox rarely appeared at the National Park during the Bug-Catching Contest on Thursdays after the National Pokémon had been unlocked.

Other Games[edit]

Dustox could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire as well as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Secret Storage 9, Enddless Level 6, Forever Level 6 and Mr. Who's Den. Dustox could also be recruited in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness at Landslide Cave.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Jessie had a Cascoon which evolved into a Dustox in the same episode of the Hoenn series where May's Silcoon evolved into Beautifly. Jessie had been expecting a Beautifly but quickly came to appreciate the Dustox fully and use it for Contests as well as for Pokémon battles into the Sinnoh series. Dustox won its first Ribbon at Solaceon Town, but partway through the Sinnoh series one episode focused on Dustox having to face undergoing the Dustox Crossing and mating with a Shiny Dustox. Dustox was reluctant to go, so Jessie made herself shatter its Poké Ball to release it.
  • One chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga during the Ruby/Sapphire arc pitted Ruby against a Dustox whom he had accidentally disturbed. He was reluctant to battle the Dustox but eventually defeated it using his Mudkip.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "dust" and "toxic".
