Flaaffy is an electric sheep Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games. It is the middle form of Mareep's evolutionary line and evolves into Ampharos.
Information[edit]
Flaaffy evolves from Mareep at Level 15. Its evolution causes a change in its wool quality that allows it to generate a large amount of electricity using smaller amounts of wool. This is because storing too much electricity caused Flaaffy to develop patches where even downy wool cannot grow. The bare and slick parts of its hide are rubbery, which shields it from its own electricity. Flaaffy can also fire hair that zaps on impact. Like its earlier form, Flaaffy's fleece also stores electricity, and the light bulb on its tail also lights when when it is electrically charged.
It evolves into Ampharos at Level 30.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Gold, Silver, HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions, Flaaffy could be uncommonly found at Routes 42 and 43, and it was more common during the daytime. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Flaaffy could be found at Route 222 when using the Pokéradar.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Colosseum, a Shadow Flaaffy could be snagged from St. Performer Diogo at Pyrite Town, and after being purified it could be traded to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 53, Endless Level 64, Forever Level 3 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited on the seventh through thirteenth floors of Lightning Field, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was recruitable at the eighth through tenth floors of Ampl Plains and the first five floors of Five Amp Plains. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Chroma Road. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Flaaffy appeared at Latolato Trail and the Ice Temple.
Other Appearances[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Flaaffy has made primarily minor appearances. During one episode of the Battle Frontier series, a Flaaffy belonging to a trainer named Mariah acted as a love interest for Brock's Marshtomp.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Flaaffy was featured in one chapter of the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc where Crystal found them in Bill's abandoned motorboat and wound up fighting them, catching the Flaaffy after targeting its bare patches of skin.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name seems to be a combination of "fluffy" with the sheep sound "baa".
