Foongus is a small mushroom-like Pokémon bearing a mysterious Poké Ball-like pattern that was introduced in the fifth generation games. Its evolved form is Amoonguss.

Information[edit]

Foongus has a pattern on its cap which resembles a Poké Ball for unknown reasons. They use this pattern to lure people in and then attack them with poison spores, trying to repel all those who try to catch them. Because of this, Foongus often appear in fields with the likeness of a Poké Ball, although it has a notably different shape.

It evolves into Amoonguss at Level 39.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Foongus was uncommonly found at Routes 6, 7 and 10 and Victory Road Gate, with Foongus also being present as fake items on Routes 6 and 10 (two at each).

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, it was found at autumnwood and field areas of Volcanic Slope as well as the field area of Volcanic Slope. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Foongus appeared at Windmill Way in the Arbor Area and could be befriended through a chase.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, a group of Foongus appeared in one episode of the Unova series where they poisoned Scraggy and the other Pokémon of Ash's group after they were disturbed by the former. Other Foongus have made more minor appearances.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "fungus", and this name with Amoonguss form a play on the rhyming phrase "fungus among us".
  • It and Amoonguss's resemblance to Poké Balls is a callback to Voltorb and Electrode.
