Gareth is a playable unit in Radiant Dawn who first made a small appearance in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
Background[edit]
Gareth was a dragon laguz who served Dheginsea, the king of Goldoa, with fervent loyalty. This powerful vassal was assigned to be the protector of Prince Kurthnaga, and at his command helped to move Ike's ship during "Chapter 12: A Strange Land". Despite this, Kurthnaga was able to sneak away from Goldoa in Radiant Dawn, seemingly without Gareth's knowledge and consent.
Due to his devotion to the king, Gareth continued to serve the king when he became a guardian of the Tower of Guidance in "Endgame: Rebirth" of "Part 4: Of Countries and Kings". He and Nasir fought directly from Dheginsea's side. Like the other dragons, Gareth would not attack Kurthnaga or Ena during the battle with Ike's forces. If Gareth was still alive after Dheginsea's death, he would then choose to join with Ike's forces against Ashera so that he could follow Kurthnaga, the new Goldoan king. On the second playthrough, he then chose to tell Kurthnaga the secrets about Lehran and Goldoa's past to begin preparing him to become the new king of Goldoa.
After the war ended, Gareth was named chamberlain to the newborn son of Dheginsea's late son Rajaion with Ena. Gareth taught Rajaion and Ena's son with both strictness and love.
