Geitz is a playable unit in Fire Emblem. He is the brother of Geese, a playable character in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi.

Background

Geitz was born to the owner of a merchant's guild based on Bulgar. He had a rich and privileged childhood due to his father's status. As a child, he originally respected his father and rode with him on journeys in his father's galley. However, this all changed when he witnessed his father's barbaric practices. In the hold of the ship, he saw children like him and grown mean being forced to row the galley. And anyone collapsed with exhaustion, his father would toss them overboard. This caused Geitz to lose his love for his father and grow to despise him. His father's ship was once attacked by Fargus's pirates. He became acquainted with one of the pirates, Dart, and resented him, because Dart had something to have pride and believe in, in the form of Fargus's pirate ship.

Geitz later left his father's merchant guild and began wandering aimlessly for some type of meaning in his life. In his travels, he eventually came across a battle between Eliwood's forces and the forces of the Black Fang member Linus in "Four-Fanged Offense" (Eliwood Chapter 23, Hector Chapter 24). Geitz only appeared if the combined levels of the three lords were 50 or over. Geitz decided to slip into the battle on the Black Fang's side, but Dart talked to him and convinced him to join up with Eliwood's group instead. Geitz remained in Eliwood's group for the remainder of his journey. Afterwards, he continued his aimless wandering in search of a land that he could call his own. It should also be noted that in his final Support conversation with Dart, he agreed to become a pirate in Fargus's crew to see if that was his calling.

Support Conversation Summaries

Geitz is capable of having Support conversations with five other characters.

• Dart- In the first Support conversation, Geitz approaches Dart and complains about his boredom, while Dart accuses Geitz of being useless. In the second conversation, Geitz attempts to order Dart around and says that he was used to being attended as a child. But Dart becomes angry at Geitz, saying that he looked forward to working alongside Geitz after hearing he had left the merchant's guild, but he now saw that Geitz hadn't changed and was just wandering from one thing to another, always bored and never finishing any new thing he takes up. In the third conversation, Geitz apologizes to Dart and said he had been trying to goad him into a fight. Geitz says he always envied Dart for having something to love and have pride in, in the form of his pirate life. Geitz didn't have anything like that, which led him to resent Dart, but Dart tells Geitz not to give up and keep traveling, and eventually Geitz would find everything he needed. Dart then asks Geitz to join Fargus's crew after the battle, and Geitz agrees, saying that's where he belongs.
• Dorcas- Dorcas and Geitz meet, and Geitz asks Dorcas about his motivations. Geitz had noted Dorcas's fighting style, saying that he fought ruthlessly while only being concerned with saving himself. Dorcas says this is because he must return home to his family. Then in the second conversation, Dorcas notes Geitz's fighting style and says that he fights as if he doesn't care if he lives or dies. Geitz says that is because he still seeks the meaning of his own life. Dorcas said that he envied not having to worry about those abstract concerns, because he was already burdened with worrying for his own survival and his work. In the third Support conversation, Geitz says that he still hasn't found the meaning of his life but for the moment he feels good fighting. Dorcas and Geitz agree to fight together for the money.
• Fiora- Fiora meets Geitz and recognizes him from his father's merchant guild. She thanks the guild for bringing food to Ilia one year when all their crops had died, but Geitz tells Fiora she no longer shares any connection with the guild. In the second conversation, Fiora asks Geitz why he hates his father so much, so Geitz begins telling her about his father's cruel practices. In the final conversation, Fiora asks him if he will return to the merchant's guild after the battle, but Geitz refuses and says his brother Geese will probably take over. Fiora attempts to support Geitz's decision, but he gets angry at her and says that she doesn't understand the business. Fiora agrees that she may not understand the business, but she does understand Geitz.
• Isadora- A small bird begins living on Geitz's head and setting up a nest while Isadora and Geitz watch. Geitz wants it off and shouts that he is a solitary warrior, while Isadora is amused. In the second conversation, Isadora suggests naming the bird Wilson while Geitz is still looking for a way to get the bird off his head. He says he has tried feeding it some stuff he found lying around, and they decide to ask Merlinus about proper bird food. In the third conversation, the bird had finally left. Isadora says she heard that Geitz was on a journey with no destination for somewhere he could belong, and suggests that the bird was on a similar journey, and that it must have flown ahead to the place where both of them belong. Geitz insists that the bird meant nothing to him, and Isadora simply giggles.
• Karel- In the first conversation, Geitz approaches Karel, having been assigned to fight alongside him, but Karel insults his ability and tells him to stay out of his way. In the second conversation, Karel asks Geitz to show him his style so they can fight, but Karel is not impressed and leaves Geitz. In the final conversation, Geitz makes Karel admit that he had been following Geitz, and Geitz notes that Karel was giving him the goosebumps. Karel tells Geitz that he is making progress and his sword arm is getting stronger. Geitz is confused and asks Karel if he's trying to ambush him, but Karel's reply is a simple "Pfah".
