Lilina is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi and is the only daughter of Hector.

Background[edit]

The daughter of Lord Hector, Lilina grew up as a 'princess' of Ostia. Throughout her childhood she was a close friend of Roy, the son of the Pherae Marquess, Eliwood. As they both grew up, they were instructed in the art of combat by the Etrurian General, Cecilia. Though Roy was taught to use the blade, Lilina was instructed in the use of Anima magic. The fate of her mother is not recorded, but she seemed to have died some years ago as she is never mentioned afterwards. One of their last lessons with her was when Cecilia passed on to Roy the skills needed to be a field commander and under his direction, Lilina and Wolt joined him in a training battle against Bors. However things were soon to take a worse when she accompanied Roy back to Pherae. She left his company to press on ahead to pay her respects to the ailing Eliwood. But while she was there, the castle was assaulted by the Dolm Mountain bandits led by Damas. Though she was willing to do her part to fight them off, Eliwood ordered her into hiding so as not to endanger the heir to Ostia's throne.

In the end she and Eliwood were rescued by the timely arrival of Roy and his allies. Though was placed in charge of the Pherae military to join the Lycian Alliance, Lilina was forbidden to join him. Since her father was actively engaged with the enemy, she returned to Ostia to make ease the worries of people about having no one occupying the throne. Though she could not go with him, she did send one of her protectors, Bors, to go and assist Roy. While she remained in Ostia, the war waged on with Bern and King Zephiel. While Hector prepared to meet the other Lycian leaders, the Castle Araphen that they had assembled at was attacked by Bern. Hector was imprisoned and though Roy arrived to liberate the castle, he was too late to save him. Despite this, the news of his death did not reach Lilina, either due to those with her not knowing or not having the heart to tell her.

The result of Hector's defeat sparked a rebellion in Ostia and those who were seeking to garner favor from Bern captured Lilina and imprisoned her. The leader of the rebellion, a man named Leygance, originally intended to keep her alive but once Roy's forces had surrounded the castle, he ordered one of his soldiers to discretely kill her so that her death could be blamed on Roy's men, thus preventing any of the rebels being dissuaded by her. Before she could be killed, she was rescued by Roy who had brought with him a Thunder tome so that she could defend herself. She was also reunited with Bors, Barth, and Wendy - all armor knights loyal to her father. It was only after the defeat of Leygance that Lilina learned of the death of her father. Roy was the one forced to deliver the bad news to her about Hector's death and though Lilina tried to face the news boldly as a warrior's daughter, she couldn't hold back her grief for long.

Despite her grief, she accompanied Roy for the rest of the war. Her first contribution was to help find the Divine Weapon that had been left from the Human-Dragon war centuries ago by King Roland. She continued to aid Roy throughout the rest of the battles, her kind spirit often inspiring enemies to switch sides to join Roy. It was her caring nature that convinced the simple-minded Gonzales that he was no monster and to join Roy's forces. She likewise did the same with the bandit leader Garret who in particular held a grudge against the nobility, but when Lilina put herself between the innocents and Garret, he decided to join Roy's side to see if she would really live up to what she claimed to be. In the end they were able to topple Bern and thwart Zephiel's attempts to hand over Elibe to the dragons.

Possible Fates[edit]

If Lilina reaches A-Rank support with Roy, she will appear in the final cutscene before Guinevere's coronation. They speak briefly and Roy tells her that one day he'll come and pick her up. It is then stated afterwards that the two wed and the Lycian League is united under them into one kingdom.

If she does not have an A Rank with Roy, her ending is the same in that she still becomes marquess of Ostia and unites Lycia, with the only difference being she does not marry Roy.

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

Lilina is capable of Support conversations with ten other characters.

  • Roy- Their first conversation has Roy asking how she is doing, and she assures him there is no need to worry. In their second conversation Lilina talks about the past when Roy came to Ostia three years prior and how much things have changed. In their final conversation Lilina apologizes for being nostalgic and the two promise to always be at eachother's side.
  • Bors - Bors asks Lilina if something has been bothering him, but she rebuffs him by saying its nothing. When he tries to press more, she snaps at him and leaves. In the second conversation Lilina apologizes and explains that she's been irritated at how much Roy has changed lately. Bors explains that even though he's matured, he is still the same person. In their final conversation, Lilina is much happier and asks for Bors to always stay by her side.
  • Marcus - In the first Support conversation, Marcus talks to Lilina about Eliwood. He says that Roy is becoming much like Eliwood, and that Lilina is much like Eliwood's wife, so he suggests that Roy and Lilina marry after returning to Pherae. Lilina is frightened by the idea and assures Marcus that they are just friends. In the second conversation, Lilina asks Marcus about what kind of couple Eliwood and his wife were. Marcus tells her about their happiness, and how one night Eliwood disappeared for three days, then returned with a flower from Ilia for his sweetheart (the kind she loved the most). In the third Support conversation, Lilina admits that she has liked Roy for a long time but is unsure of whether he likes her back. Marcus says that he does not have experience in such matters, but he tells her that instead of waiting she should advance on Roy and find out for herself.
  • Oujay - Because Oujay is Ostian, Lilina approaches him and asks about his family. He mentions he has several brothers and a little sister, but says little more about her. In their second conversation when Lilina asks about his sister, he reveals the truth: that his parents had given his sister up to another family to make sure she wouldn't starve. In their final conversation, Oujay apologizes for telling her so much, but Lilina is determined to make sure that when she runs Ostia that no children should ever have to go hungry.
  • Barth - Lilina attempts to thank Barth for coming to her rescue, but he refuses any form of gratuity and merely says that it was his duty as a knight. They later spoke of Leygance and Devias, the two men responsible for the rebellion. Though Asthor had evidence to suggest they had been planning it even before Bern's invasion, Lilina had refused to believe they could be traitors and blamed herself for their resulting insurrection. When Lilina asks what will become of Ostia now that Hector is gone, Barth suggests that unless someone rebuilds it, then it will fall. Though Lilina doesn't feel she is sure she is qualified for such a task, Barth reassures her that he and the other knights will support her no matter what.
  • Wendy - Lilina was at first surprised to see Wendy wearing such heavy armor and asked if she had become an armor knight to be like Bors. Wendy confirmed this, but also that it was her desire to protect Lilina. Later Lilina tried to get to know her a little better and asked about boys, which left Wendy a bit flustered since she hadn't put much thought into it. Later when Lilina speaks to her some more, Wendy expresses her confusion at how Lilina continues to keep talking to a mere knight, but Lilina explains that she just wants to be friends. Though Wendy does not think they can be 'friends', she does ask for permission that they might continue to talk in the future.
  • Asthor - The two start their conversation with Asthor commenting on Lilina's beauty and she notes that he'd be a lot more skilled if he we was more serious. When asked about his past, Asthor slowly reveals his past over the span of all three conversations. He was originally a thief who was stealing from Castle Ostia but caught by Hector, who merely offered him a choice: to work for him or to continue his thieving ways while always in fear of being caught. In the end he entered Hector's service and that any time he would willingly say that Hector was an honorable man.
  • Gonzales - Gonzales approaches Lilina with a white flower he plucked, but when Lilina thanks him he expressed confusion at the meaning of the words. Later he greets her again (saying 'thank you') and offers her another flower which reminds her of the flowers in Roy's hometown. When Gonzales asks about Roy, Lilina mentions that she likes him which causes the bandit to quickly rush off. She later tracks him down again to find out why he is avoiding her. Though he thinks he's too ugly for her, she convinces him to let her stay with him while he breaks down into tears.
  • Cecilia - When Cecilia asks how Lilina's magic has been improving, Lilina confirms she is getting better. Cecilia suggests that with more practice, she could become a mage like no other. Later Lilina asks why Cecilia never taught Roy magic and Cecilia tells her that she would not teach it to Roy because he lacked the talent to use it, which would have been unfair to him to have been forced to lag behind her superior abilities. In their last conversation, Lilina asks if Cecilia's noticed how Roy has changed as he's matured into a leader. She questions her own ability to lead as well as he does, but Cecilia points out that Lilina doesn't have to do everything alone and that she can rely on others support, including her own.
  • Garret - When Lilina approaches him, he at first gets irritated and says he doesn't want to be friends, but then notices her bracelet is missing and asks what happened to it. Prior to their meeting Lilina had met an old blind man and gave it to him so he could buy food. Oujay dismisses the notion and says that the old man was merely conning her. When she talks to him again, he insists that he still won't be her friend and that it isn't a good idea to stick around him. However she believes he is a good person at heart, otherwise he would just steal her various tomes. In their final conversation Garrett asks her what she would do if she saw that old man again, but he concludes she'd just get duped again due to her naivety. She agrees that she would have done that, as she can't bear to pass up people in need. Though he concludes that she might just be born stupid, he does give her a shiny gift that he claims came from the old man from earlier and quickly departs before Lilina can question him about it.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In the Super Smash Bros. series, Lilina has been represented by a sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and an Advanced-rank Primary Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Her Spirit's Support effect was to boost the power of fire attacks. When fought against in a Spirit battle, Lilina's Spirit would possess Palutena and fight alongside Roy in a battle where explosion and fire attacks were more powerful.

Trivia[edit]

  • Though she is only one of the potential women that Roy can marry, her special ending is the only one that adds an extra segment to the ending.
  • She also appears in the epilogue scene of Fire Emblem, set about five years before Fuuin no Tsurugi, where she is shown meeting Roy for the first time.
