Background[edit]
As the daughter of a great swordsman, Marisa's entire life was spent in the pursuit of the blade. As a child she would train constantly, even to the point that her father taught her to sleep on the side of her non-dominant arm so that she would always be ready to fight. This was accomplished by placing swords in front and behind her while she slept, though the swords their selves were blunted and dulled. As a result, she grew up to be an extremely skilled fighter, though her rather unusual childhood left her being rather socially aloof and lacking in skills outside of fighting.
Marisa fought many men as she tried to become a better fighter, claiming to have best at least a thousand men. All of this was while she fought her father's shadow, attempting to come close to matching his skill though even at her best, she considered him to be immensely better. Eventually she met Gerik and joined his mercenary group, though she still remained largely distant and silent around her fellow mercenaries. When Grado began attacking the other nations to collect the Sacred Stones, Marisa was assigned to a different company by the Mercenary Guild.
In Eirika's path, Marisa was found working for Pablo, an army that was on the verge of capturing and defeating Innes as well as the mercenaries working for him, Gerik and Tethys. However once Gerik spoke to her, she joined his side. In Ephraim's path, Marisa was convinced by Ewan to go to her new employer and she joined Ephraim's army. Regardless of either path, Marisa continued to serve their side until Grado's defeat.
Possible Fates[edit]
Marisa has three different endings, depending on whether he reaches A-Support with Joshua or Gerik.
- Default Ending - Marisa ended up starting her own elite mercenary battalion. Though many men continued to try and defeat her, none managed to match her blade.
- Marisa and Joshua Ending - After Joshua won his match with her, he convinced her to come back to him with Jehanna where she would pledge service to the crown and become the top swordfighter. Though Joshua continued to enjoy gambling, for him Marisa was always the winner.
- Marisa and Gerik Ending - Gerik continued his life as a mercenary and Marisa became the company's fencing instructor. He would eventually return the affection she gave him, though he soon learned that she was clumsy at everything but fighting.
Support Conversation Summaries[edit]
Marisa is capable of Support conversations with five other characters.
- Colm - Colm approaches Marisa asking if she has seen a 'scary woman sword fighter' and begins describing her in an exaggerated fashion. After he leaves, Marisa concludes that he must have been talking about her. When they meet again, Colm has figured out who she is and admits that he was going to try and duel her, but after seeing her fight has concluded that she'd beat him senseless. He then admits that she scares him with the way that she fights in how she doesn't seem to fight the enemy, but rather someone else. Later Marisa finally admits that the person she is fighting is her father's shadow and that she's trying to top the 'mountain' of how good he was. Though not fully understanding it, Colm says he thinks she'll be able to get to the top and she comments that he's a nice guy.
- Gerik - After Gerick checks in on Marisa to make sure shes' doing okay, Marisa convinces him to talk to her more and asks if he likes sociable women. When he points out that sociable women get more attention, she decides to make an effort to be more social. When they meet again, Marisa has been silent lately and she explains she's been practicing being social. When Gerik ask to see it, she makes him vow not to laugh. She then follows up with "Hello, Gerik! Wonderful day for a battle, isn't it!", which prompts him to burst out with laughter. When they talk again, Marisa is still angry at him laughing. However after he apologizes a few times, she finally forgives him and hints towards her feelings about him, but quickly closes up when Gerik presses her about it.
- Tethys - When Tethys asks Marisa about whether she's left handed, Marisa explains that she can use either hand, but that her left hand is her stronger one and that she consequently sleeps on her right arm to that her sword arm is always at the ready. When they speak again, Marisa asks if Tethys is right handed due to the way she dances, but Tethys explains that the way she dances comes from her experiences in life. Later Tethys asks if Marisa would ever like to reborn as something different, such as a dancer. However Marisa insists she can't imagine living other life. When Tethys changes to subject about them both being rivals for Gerik's affections, Marisa gets flustered and quickly excuses herself.
- Tana - In an attempt to be friendly, Tana praises Marisa for fighting for them and not just being a cutthroat like most mercenaries, but Marisa insists she fights for the sake of fighting and doesn't care about Tana's opinion. When they speak again, Marisa is surprised to see Tana's pegasus up close. Tana explains the finer details of her steed and how it was named by her mentor, Syrene. Though Tana hopes to one day pass on what she learned, Marisa expresses no such interest. When they speak last, Tana comments on Marisa's training and suggests that she might be working too hard to achieve her goal. However Marisa asks why the princess is wasting her time speaking to a mercenary, but Tana insists that the two of them are friends now and that Marisa doesn't need to call her by her title.
- Joshua - Having heard of her skill, Joshua approaches Marisa about having a duel to test their abilities, but rather than a death match make it have odds about one owing the other depending on the victor, to which Marisa agrees. The second conversation begins after their first duel, in which they were evenly matched, though Marisa had the slight advantage. Joshua explains his love of gambling, but Marisa is more interested in dueling again with the same stakes. Their final conversation begins with the conclusion of their latest duel in which Joshua is the victor. Marisa claims to have made a mistake and Joshua concludes she was just having a bad day. He explains what his 'favor' will be, asking Marisa to accompany him as his partner for sparring with one another as well as gambling. He convinces her of the benefits of being around someone to spar with and she agrees to go along with it, though she is determined she'll beat him in their next duel.
