Meganium is a powerful grass Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games. It is the third and final form in the evolutionary line of second generation starter Pokémon Chikorita.
Information[edit]
Meganium evolves from Bayleef at Level 32. It is a large lizard-like Pokémon which has two antennae in place of its predecessor's leaves, and has a large bloomer flower surrounding its neck. The aroma of its petals contain a substance that calms aggressive feelings. It gives off more of its becalming scent in battle to stunt its foe's fighting spirit. Its breath also has the ability to revive dead grass and plants, making them healthy again. Standing near a Meganium is also said the relax the person, as if they were standing in a sunny forest.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In all the color versions, it can only be obtained through evolution.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Trozei!], Meganium could be found at Phobos Train, Trozei Battle and Mr. Who's Den. Meganium could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team, but in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time, it could be found on the first twenty-nine basement floors of Mystery Jungle. In Pokémon Ranger, it appeared at the Olive Jungle, and in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs it could be found at Rand's House. Meganium also appeared in Pokémon Rumble Blast at the Volcanic Slope.
Other Appearances[edit]
- Several Meganium have appeared in the Pokémon anime. Casey's Chikorita eventually evolved into one during the Johto episodes (although Ash's didn't), while Vincent was also shown to own a Meganium that had evolved from his starter Pokémon and fought Ash's Bulbasaur to a draw at the Silver Conference.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Crystal's Bayleef evolved into a Meganium at the same time as the other starters to protect their trainers during a battle with Lugia. It has since remained as one of Crystal's primary Pokémon.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "mega" and "geranium", the name of a type of plant.
