The Moon Pearl is a special and mysterious item from several Zelda games that is connected to the Dark World.

In A Link to the Past, the Moon Pearl was the treasure found within the Tower of Hera. It has no battle usage, and its only function is to protect Link from the changing effects of the Triforce. This essentially allows Link to retain his normal form when entering the Dark World; as Ganon's wish on the Triforce had warped the Sacred Realm so that others would change into forms reflecting their hearts. In the Japanese version, the lost old man at Death Mountain takes Link's ownership of the Moon Pearl as proof that he is the Hero that he has been waiting for, and he describes the Moon Pearl as a charm of the Hero who travels to the Sacred Realm.
Moon Pearls appear in mass quantities in Four Swords Adventures, where they seem to be larger and have a different function, although they are still connected to a Dark World. Moon Pearls must be lifted by Links and brought to special Moon Gates in order to open doors to the Dark World, with the Pearl being depleted in the process. The Moon Pearls were held by various villagers who awaited those who could sense Moon Gates, and they were also found within treasure chests in dungeons.
