Musharna is a dream-eating Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the evolved form of Munna.

Information[edit]

Musharna evolves from Munna when exposed to the Moon Stone. It is similar to its previous form in that it is constantly floating, eats the dreams of people and Pokémon and releases a particular dream mist. The mist which Musharna releases from its forehead contains the dreams of people and Pokémon alike. Musharna can also use the mist to create shapes of things from the dreams it has eaten.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Musharna had a rare chance of appearing at shaking grass at the Dreamyard. Additionally, one unique Musharna with the Telepathy ability appears in the Dreamyard's basement every Friday night.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Musharna was found in the tower at World Axle's second basement floor. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, a Musharna acted as the guide to Cove Town and was befriended by talking to it.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • Musharna was featured in one episode of the Pokémon anime in which it was shown that Fennel was once involved in research of dreams as a clean energy source at a lab in the dreamyard until the Musharna was corrupted by people's evil thoughts and desires, which turned the Dream Mist black and caused an explosion that destroyed the lab. The Musharna went missing afterwards, and during the episode it was awakened by Team Rocket when they began analyzing the data there. Musharna was held captive by Team Rocket but ultimately was rescued by Ash and his friends, and it returned to Fennel, whom had used her Munna to track it. The Musharna remained one of Fennel's main Pokémon and on one occasion its Dream Mist was able to revive an Archeops.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name could be derived from any combination of the Japanese words "Mushamusha" (an onomatopoeia for crunching noises, which would reflect the way it eats dreams) and mu (which means dream), as well as the English word "luna" (meaning moon, which reflects its connection to nighttime as well as evolving through the Moon Stone).
  • Musharna is partly based on the Baku, a tapir-like spirit from Japanese mythology known to devour dreams and nightmares. Drowzee and Hypno had earlier been inspired by the same spirit.
