Rapidash is a fiery horse-like Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games. It is the evolved form of Ponyta.

Information[edit]

Rapidash evolves from Ponyta at Level 40. It is a competitive Pokémon with a love for running and will chase anything that moves in hopes of racing it. If it sees something faster than itself, it will pursue the opponent at full speed. Its incredible acceleration allows it to reach its top speed of 150 mph after running just ten steps, and its hooves barely touch the ground after it reaches full gallop. The faster it goes, the longer the flames of its mane will become, and its flames also sparkle at high speeds to add to its majesty. It can even race as fast as a bullet train.

They can normally be found casually cantering in fields and plains.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen Versions, Rapidash could be found at Kindle Road. In Pokémon: Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, Rapidash could rarely be found on Route 28. In Crystal, Rapidash could also be obtained by trading a Gloom to a trainer in Pewter City.

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rapidash appears as an Advanced-rank Primary Spirit (which comes with a speed-boosting effect). When fought against in a Spirit battle, Rapidash's Spirit would possess a Charizard that started a battle with Superspicy Curry-induced fire breath and had increased movement speed.

Other Media[edit]

  • Rapidash is featured in one episode of the Pokémon anime, where Ash winds up riding another trainer's Ponyta in a Pokémon race after the Ponyta's owner was injured in an accident. The Ponyta evolved into Rapidash at the very end of the race, which allowed it to win. Another episode during the Johto series showed a Rapidash as one of the Pokémon of the Silver Conference's eventual champion.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Rapidash was first shown during the Red/Green/Blue arc as one of Blaine's Pokémon which he rode like a steed. In the Emerald arc, Emerald uses a Rapidash lent to him by Chrystal for the Battle Pike. During the Diamond/Pearl arc, Platina's Ponyta evolves into Rapidash following its first victory against Byron's Bronzong.

Trivia[edit]
