Titania is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and its sequel, Radiant Dawn. She was the deputy commander of the Greil Mercenaries and thus one of the commander's main advisers. Her opinions were often in stark contrast to the group's tactician, Soren; Titania seemed to rely more on morality and honor in her decisions, while Soren thought of what was strategically correct and usually held the interests of the mercenary group above the interests of others.
Background[edit]
Titania originally was a Crimean royal knight. At one point, she was sent to Gallia as part of an officer exchange program. It was there that she first met Greil and witnessed him in action during a joint training session. She thought of Greil as the mightiest warrior she had ever seen. Naturally, she lost her match with Greil, but she then asked him to train her. Greil agreed, and they began training, and they grew closer in the meantime. Greil later invited Titania to his home a few weeks afterwards, where she beheld Greil's infant son Ike and his wife Elena, as well as the fatherly side of Greil. After Greil's wife, he left Gallia for Altea and started a guild of mercenaries. Titania came to Altea with him and became the deputy commander of Greil's Mercenaries. She also served as a mentor to Ike and many of the other young mercenaries such as Oscar and Boyd. She also allowed Rhys to be admitted into the mercenaries after he saved her life one day.
Path of Radiance[edit]
Titania first appears and is playable in "Chapter 1: The Battle Begins", when she led Ike (along with Boyd and Oscar) on his first mission as a mercenary to defeat some bandits that attacking the town of Caldea. In "Chapter 2: Rescue", the bandits captured Mist and Rolf in order to get revenge on the mercenaries. Titania left to alert Greil, Shinon and Gatrie, but in the meantime Ike, Boyd, Oscar and Rhys disobeyed her orders by going ahead to the bandits' stronghold without her. Titania eventually arrived at the battle late, and Shinon and Gatrie arrived in time to save Mist from being killed by a bandit. Titania scolded the others for disobeying her orders and left Greil to decide their punishments.
The mercenaries were later tossed into chaos when war erupted between Crimea and Daein in "Chapter 4: Roadside Battle". Titania wished to have the group support Crimea and possibly turn the war in Crimea's favor, while Soren wanted a path of neutrality. After a scouting mission, they discovered the Princess Elincia, whose existence was a secret not even Titania knew about. Titania and Soren were once more divided on the subject of Elincia, with Titania wanting to deliver her safely to Gallia while Soren suggested turning her in to Daein. But it became apparent that Daein planned to attack them regardless of whether or not they planned to surrender Elincia, so they fought their way through the Daein troops in order to escort Elincia to Gallia. But along the way, Greil was killed by the Black Knight in "Chapter 7: Shades of Evil". Titania was hurt deeply by this loss. Despite his youth, Ike was appointed the new commander, and Titania agreed to continue serving under him and helped him to ease into his new responsibilities as commander of Greil's Mercenaries.
In the Base Conversation of "Chapter 28: Moment of Fate", at Titania's request Ike told her the full story of Greil's final battle with the Black Knight that resulted in his death. She realized his last moments were happier then she realized, and she was finally ready to move past her grief. He also told her of his intentions to avenge his father by defeating the Black Knight, using the blessed sword Ragnell and the sword-wielding style he inherited from Greil. Titania supported this, but she did warn him to flee if the Black Knight was too powerful for him. Later, when Ike went off to battle the Black Knight, Titania prevented Soren and anyone else (except for Mist) from following him, since this was a battle Ike had to go through alone. After Ike won the war, she congratulated him for how much he had grown and wished that Greil and Elena could see him.
Radiant Dawn[edit]
Titania kept a low profile with the rest of the Mercenaries over the next three years. They resurfaced at the end of "Endgame: Elincia's Gambit" In "Part 2: Of Countries and Kings" when they defeated the remnants of the Crimean rebels and rescued Lucia. The mercenaries then joined with the Laguz Alliance Army in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows". Titania continued to serve as an adviser to Ike, although she no longer got into arguments with Soren.
After the war ended, Titania remained second in command of the Greil Mercenaries, and once a year she visited the graves of her former friends.
Support Conversation Summaries[edit]
In Path of Radiance, Titania is capable of having Support conversations with four other characters.
- Boyd- Titania finds Boyd slacking off when he should be training, so she starts to scold him. Boyd insists that he can't train without a partner, but Titania tells him not to be so lazy since he's a natural fighter and has him continue making practice swings. In the second conversation, Titania approaches Boyd and he expects another scolding, but instead Titania tells him that his training has become instinct due to the intense battles they are currently caught up in, and calls him a true warrior and one of their best. This praise confuses Boyd and he its even scarier then her scolding, but he changes his mind when Titania volunteers to continue scolding him. In the final conversation, Boyd approaches Titania and says its heard to find her with all the war councils she's been attending. He says he received a large reward the other day and wants to buy a present for Titania, calling her the prettiest person he's ever seen. Titania is left at a loss for words, but Boyd ruins the compliment by comparing her to a really nice mom. She then asks Boyd how hold he thinks she is, at which point he meekly guesses that she's younger than his mom. Boyd then rushes off, although Titania tries to call him back.
- Ike- In the first conversation, Ike asks Titania to spar with him and even though Titania thinks Ike no longer needed her lessons, Ike tells her he does. He asks Titania about when she met his father, but she quickly changes the subject back to training. In the second conversation, Ike asks politely about how Titania met Greil. She says she didn't tell Ike about those times only because it was hard to talk about her past, not because she had anything to hide from Ike. She tells Ike about her first meeting with Greil and Ike during his infancy. In the third conversation, Ike thanks Titania for all she had done for his family and for Greil. Ike guesses that Titania loved Greil and thanks her for making his final years happy. Titania is moved to tears and cannot speak clearly, but she agrees to continue aiding and supporting Ike so that he could gain experience and strength closer to his father's.
- Mist- In the first Support conversation, Titania finds Mist doing the laundry and tells her that she needs to relax and take a break from all of her chores. Titania promises to take her out shopping. In the second conversation, Titania and Mist have returned from the shopping trip, although Misty had been distracted by worrying about the chores. Titania told Mist that she was too considerate of others and was much like her mother Elena because of it. But Titania tells Mist that she is still young and does not yet need to take on the burdens of adulthood. In the third conversation, Titania gets Mist a dress she had wanted and tells her that she should stop and take care of herself every one in a while. She also promises to talk with Mist about any problems she cannot talk about with Ike. Mist loves the dress and thanks Titania.
- Rhys- Titania makes sure Rhys is in good health and then recalls how they first met each other, noting that it was almost exactly a year ago when it happened. She is surprised to hear that even Shinon seemed concerned after her injury and thanks Rhys for healing it so she could continue fighting. Rhys thanks her for convincing Greil to hire him so he could contribute money to his parents. In the second conversation, Rhys comes across Titania while she's training and asks if he can join in on the training. He wants to learn how to fight and defend himself so he can be more useful to the mercenaries, but Titania tells him that its not his fault because he's a healer and not a fighter and she wonders if Rhys would have been happier if they left him to live in his village. But Rhys replies that his village bored him to tears and he loved living as a mercenary. Titania was glad to hear this. In the third conversation, Rhys joined in on Titania's training again. This time they discussed Ike and their concerns regarding him. They ultimately agree that Ike is very much like Greil and will pick the right path without Titania telling him. All they had to do was believe in Ike and follow him to the end.
In Radiant Dawn, Titania has automatic Bond Supports with Ike, Mist and Rhys.

Other Appearances[edit]
Video Games[edit]
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Titania appears as a Novice-Rank Primary Spirit, using her art from Path of Radiance. When fought in a Spirit battle, Titania's Spirit possesses Lucina in a battle where the player's attack is lowered while hers is boosted.
Trivia[edit]
- Unused Path of Radiance data indicates that at one point Titania was intended to also have support conversations with Lucia.
- Titania is also the name of Vanessa's pegasus in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (with Lute sometimes accidentally calling Vanessa by her pegasus's name).
