Wrecking Crew is an action game released by Nintendo for the NES that stars Mario and Luigi.
Gameplay[edit]
In Wrecking Crew, the player controls Mario. Throughout the level, there are various objects that must be destroyed while avoiding enemies. Once all of the objects are destroyed, the player moves to the next level.
The game also featured a Design Mode that allowed players to create four custom levels. However, without the Famicom Data Recorder, they could not be saved. Despite not getting the Data Recorder overseas, the functionality to save custom tracks was added in all versions of the Virtual Console release.

Ports and Remakes[edit]
- In 1985, Wrecking Crew was ported to arcades as Vs. Wrecking Crew, which omitted the level editor but added a two-player mode.
- In May 2020, this version was digitally ported to the Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives series.
- In 1998, a recolored version of the original Wrecking Crew was included in Wrecking Crew '98.
- In 2004, Wrecking Crew was released on the Game Boy Advance as part of the Famicom Mini series.
- It has been released for download on the Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as part of each system's respective Virtual Console program: for the Wii Virtual Console in 2007 (early 2008 for Japan), the 3DS Virtual Console in 2012/2012 and the Wii U Virtual Console in 2013. On the 3DS, it was also among the games available early and for free in 2011 as part of the promotional Ambassador Program.
- In July 2019, it was among the games that were made available to play for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online service. This release included cooperative and competitive multiplayer options.
Sequels[edit]
Wrecking Crew was followed by the Super NES game Wrecking Crew '98.

- One of 9-Volt's games in WarioWare: Twisted is based on Wrecking Crew.
- In the Super Smash Bros. series, the Golden Hammer has appeared as an item since Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and a stage based on Wrecking Crew was featured in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Eggplant Man has also appeared as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee and a Spirit in Ultimate. Throughout the series, Mario and Luigi have also had palette swaps based on Foreman Spikes and Luigi's Wrecking Crew outfit, respectively.
- Segments of Wrecking Crew were used for challenges in NES Remix.
