At Route 19, Shauna showed up to confront Calem/Serena and challenged them to a Pokémon battle. She lost, but found it exciting to battle with friends and was reminded of their first battle at Aquacord Town. She then watched as Tierno and Trevor also challenged Calem/Serena in succession. Shauna expressed how grateful she was for this journey and the friends she had made, and she then gave HM 05: Waterfall to Calem/Serena before departing. After Calem/Serena had become champion, Shauna could be found at Vaniville Town. She had bred her Starter Pokémon and offered to trade the resulting Pokémon to Calem/Serena for any Pokémon . She saw this as an equivalent of a friendship bracelet for them. She also mentioned wanting to visit a faraway region. Additionally, Shauna was available as a battle partner for Multi Battles at the Battle Maison. | At Route 19, Shauna showed up to confront Calem/Serena and challenged them to a Pokémon battle. Shauna is a Pokémon trainer who appeared as a supporting character in Pokémon X and Y. She acts as a friendly rival to the protagonist.
Background[edit]
Shauna was a friendly and energetic young girl who was very outgoing and easily excitable. She could also be absentminded and tended to talk in singsong. Unlike other trainers, she did not seem to have a clear goal and simply liked to make good memories with her friends. At one point, she befriended Clemont and Bonnie, with Clemont giving her an invention that could solve puzzles. During the events of X and Y, she was one of the trainers chosen by Professor Sycamore to travel around Kalos for him. She was first seen at Vaniville Town, where she and Serena/Calem had gone to retrieve the last of the new trainers who were called for, Calem/Serena. They then met up with Tierno and Trevor at Aquacorde Town, where the three new trainers each received a Pokédex and a Starter Pokémon . Shauna chose last and picked the Pokémon that had a type disadvantage against the one chosen by the player. She then challenged Calem/Serena to her first Pokémon battle and lost.
At Route 2, Shauna had Serena/Calem show her how to catch Pokémon, which served as the game's tutorial for catching Pokémon . She then accompanied Calem/Serena in the Santalune Forest, where she offered to heal their Pokémon and made observations. The group then met up at Professor Sycamore's lab in Lumiose City, where the professor explained to them that he wanted them to become the best trainers that they could and to look into the secrets of Mega Evolution. After Calem/Serena defeated the professor in battle, he allowed the three new trainers to each pick another Pokémon, out of the starters from Kanto. She then explored the city and took a quick liking to making PR Videos. Afterwards, she met up with Calem/Serena at Shabboneau Castle to look into secrets of Mega Evolution. They ended up traveling to Parfum Palace in search of the Poké Flute, and there the two trainers worked together to retrieve a runaway Furfrou. The two trainers then got to watch fireworks together.
The group met up again at the Tower of Mastery in Shalour City, where they learned about Mega Evolution from Gurkinn. Shauna stayed out of the competition for the Mega Ring, and instead, she chose to cheer on both Calem/Serena and Serena/Calem. She then appeared in Lumiose City, where she celebrated the power returning to the city and took Calem/Serena to witness Prism Tower's reactivation. Shauna then told the trainer about Clemont and wished them luck at his gym. After that, the group met up at Route 14 and listened to a scary story being told at a house there. They then went ahead to Laverre City, where Shauna and Trevor went off to check out the Poké Ball Factory. However, it was guarded by Team Flare, and one grunt chased the two of them around for a while. Later on, Shauna somehow found her way to Team Flare's Secret HQ at Geosenge Town, where she joined Calem/Serena and Serena/Calem in their efforts to deactivate the ultimate weapon. Shauna was determined that they should stick together despite her fears that she would slow them down, and she was able to use up her device from Clemont to open up a lock so that they could proceed. Shauna also attempted to reason with Lysandre by pointing out how his Pokémon shared energy with him freely, but Lysandre would not listen to her. After Team Flare's defeat, she decided that they should resume their adventure.
Pokémon Roster[edit]
- Chespin/Quilladan/Chesnaught, Fennekin/Braixen/Delphox or Froakie/Frogadier/Greninja: Shauna chooses a starter Pokémon with a type disadvantage against the one chosen by a player (such as picking Froakie if the player chose Chespin). The starter Pokémon is the only Pokémon used during the first battle with her, and it evolves into its final form by the second battle with her. Her Pokémon is never seen in its middle form.
- Delcatty: She uses this Pokémon only during the second battle.
- Goodra: She uses this Pokémon during the second battle and at the Battle Maison.
- Sylveon: She uses this only at the Battle Maison, along with her Goodra.
She also received one of Kanto starters from Sycamore (Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle), but it is never established which one she chooses, and she never uses it in battle. As mentioned above, she also hatches an egg containing the first form of her starter Pokémon and trades it to Calem/Serena for any of the player's Pokémon.
In Other Pokémon Games[edit]

Shauna turned out to be the culprit and was commended for the act she put on. Afterwards, she helped to solve real mystery of Pokémon being stolen and was able to guess Zinnia's motivation.

- She is the rival character who is battled the least amount of times over the course of the game (tied with Trevor if he is counted as a rival), as she is only battled twice. She is also the only rival to trade Pokémon with the player.
- The Pokémon that Shauna trades to the player will have one perfect IV (Attack for Chespin, Special Attack for Fennekin and Speed for Froakie).
- Her Trainer ID number is 00037.
