Sceptile is a powerful leaf-covered lizard-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the third and final form in the evolutionary line of starter Pokémon Treecko.

Information

Sceptile evolves from Grovyle at Level 36. The leaves growing on its body become sharp-edged in this form and can slice down thick trees, and the leaves on its forelegs are as sharp as swords. It also has seeds growing on its back which are said to contain nutrients which revitalize trees. Sceptile carefully trees and other plants with care. It also regulates its own body temperature by basking in sunlight.

They are also even more agile and leaps all over the branches of trees before jumping its foe from above or behind, usually using its leaf blades. Because of this, Sceptile is said to have no equal when it comes to jungle combat.

Sceptile has not been found in the wild and can only be gained through evolution.

Other Games

It could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 8, Forever Level 57, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, it appeared at Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Sceptile could be recruited at Mystery Jungle. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Oil Field Hideout. It also appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Oblivia Ruins and Forest Temple.

• In the Pokémon anime, Sceptile was first shown during the Ever Grande Conference at the end of the Hoenn series as one of Tyson's Pokémon. During the Battle Frontier series, Ash's Grovyle evolved into a Sceptile while trying to save a Meganium that it had a crush on from Team Rocket. Sceptile's feelings being unrequited left it too paralyzed to actually fight for several episodes, but it finally regained its fighting spirit in time to help in the fight with Spenser. Ash left Sceptile at Professor Oak's when he left for Sinnoh, but he used it again during the Lily of the Valley Conference at the end of the Sinnoh series.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Sceptile was first shown in the Emerald arc as a Pokémon at the Battle Factory. Emerald used it and took it from the factory after realizing that it had been smuggled in instead of being an actual rental Pokémon. It later turned out, through a series of coincidences, that it had evolved from the Grovyle which Wally had lost and which was originally intended to be given to Emerald by Professor Birch as his starter Pokémon (back when it was a Treecko) anyways. It has remained as Emerald's main Pokémon.
