Tympole is a tadpole-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the first in a three-stage evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Palpitoad and Seismitoad.

Information[edit]

Tympole is a small Pokémon that resembles a tadpole, although it seems perfectly capable of living on land. They vibrate their cheeks in order to create sound waves that are imperceptible to humans, and this is how they communicate. Tympole produce high-pitched sounds through their cheeks in order to warn each other of danger.

A Tympole will evolve into Palpitoad at Level 25.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, they are commonly found outside Pinwheel Forest.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, they were found in lakes at Sun-Dappled Bank and Shimmering Lake. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Tympole appeared at Windmill Way in the Arbor Area and was befriended by showing it a picture of Seismitoad.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, a school of Tympole served as antagonists in one episode of the Unova seres, where they battled Ash's Oshawott under the command of a wild Paliptoad.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, N used a Tympole during his first battle with Black in the Black/White arc.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "tympani" (which refers to drum-like sounds) and "tadpole".
