Scraggy is a rubbery-skinned fighting Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. Its evolved form is Scrafty.
Information[edit]
Scraggy has skin which has a rubbery elasticity, to the point where its loose skin resembles a loose pair of pants. It can reduce damage by defensively pulling the skin up to its neck. Scraggy also has a massively thick skull that it uses in combat, as it has been known to immediately headbutt anyone that it makes eye contact with.
It evolves into Scrafty at Level 39.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Scraggy was uncommonly found at Routes 1 (dark grass only), 4 and 18, the entrance to Desert Resort and P2 Laboratory.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Scraggy was found at tower areas in Challenger's Ground, Soothing Shore and Firebreathing Mountain. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, it appeared at the Rockridge Fort area of the Crag Area and was known for working behind the scenes despite appearing to be lazy. To befriend the Scraggy, the player had to settle a dispute between it and Croagunk by battling both of them and then deciding which was the better fighter.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Ash received a Pokémon egg as a gift during the Unova series which later hatched into a headstrong Scraggy. It had a habit of trying to fight any other nearby Pokémon and initially refused to travel in a Poké Ball until it came to trust Ash. It has also been shown to become a close friend of Iris's Axew due to both being child Pokémon.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, one chapter featured a Scraggy and a Scrafty stealing an accordion that was going to be used for a production that White was involved in. They tried to escape after being caught, and although they were able to deflect Tepig's attack with their skin, they ultimately got caught in the web of Black's Galvantula.
Trivia[edit]
- Scraggy is a word meaning thin and scrawny, although its name could also be seen as a combination of "scrappy" (reflecting its nature) and "baggy" (due to its skin resembling baggy pants). Scraggy and Scrafty were designed based on urban youths who stereotypically wear sagging pants.
