Debut Pokémon X/Y

Drasna is one of the members of the Elite Four of Kalos who is featured as one of the final opponents in Pokémon X and Y. She focuses in Dragon-type Pokémon.

Background

Drasna's grandparents came to Kalos from a distant land. They were specifically implied to have hailed from Celestic Town in Sinnoh. Drasna grew up on their stories regarding the Pokémon of time and space, which piqued her inspired her interest in Dragon-type Pokémon. Drasna became a member of the Elite Four, and she always carried herself with a cheery and friendly demeanor despite how powerful a Pokémon trainer she was.

In X/Y, she was defeated by Calem/Serena and accepted her loss while telling the trainer that their Pokémon were just too charming. Afterwards, she could appear for rematches at the Battle Chateau, where she held the rank of Duchess, after the player had obtained the same rank of Duke/Duchess.

Pokémon Roster

At the Battle Chateau, she uses all of those Pokémon except for Druddigon.

In Other Pokémon Games

In Pokémon Masters EX, Drasna and her Dragalge appeared as a playable sync pair that could be recruited at random through the game's Sync Pair Scout starting in August 2023. When fought as an opponent, she would sometimes pair up with one of her other Pokémon instead: Altaria, Noiven or Druddigon. She was featured as an opponent in the Champion Stadium's Kalos Challenge, which imitated the Elite Four line-up from that region.

Other Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Drasna appeared during the X/Y arc. She and the other Elite Four members helped X's group and the Gym Leaders in their efforts to stop Team Flare. At one point, Drasna passed information about Zygarde along to the others.
  • In the Pokémon anime, Drasna did not appear until late into the Pokémon Journeys series, where she appeared as a competitor in the World Coronation Series who was ranked 12th in the Ultra Class. She took part in a brief battle with Wikstrom prior to battling Ash and was also said to have beaten Clemont in a battle. Ash was able to defeat her to rank up in the World Coronation Series, which marked the first time in the anime that Ash had beaten an Elite Four member.

Trivia

  • Her Japanese name is Dracaena, named after a genus also known as the dragon tree. The genus itself also takes its name from the Greek word for a female dragon. Her English name of Drasna seems to have been chosen to sound similarly.
  • She is depicted with her eyes perpetually closed, out of cheer.
