Snubbull is a pink dog-like Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games. Its evolved form is Granbull.
Information
Snubbull is a Pokémon that appears to be frightening and has a scary face, but is actually a kind and active Pokémon. Snubbull's scary face and bared teeth easily scares away small Pokémon, although the Snubbull usually feels sad after scaring others. They are actually cowardly and growl to hide their own fears of their opponents. Despite all of this, Snubbull is popular amongst women, who find them to be cute and affectionate.
It evolves into Granbull at Level 23.
Appearances
Mainstream Games
In Pokémon: Gold, Silver, HeartGold and SoulSilver, Snubbull was rarely found at Route 38 but became more common during swarms. In Crystal, Snubbull instead appeared at Routes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 34 and 35, only appearing during the morning and daytime. In Emerald, they were rarely found at the Safari Zone's extension. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they could appear at Route 209 in swarms.
Other Games
In Pokémon Trozei!, Snubbull was found at Phobos Submarine, Endless Level 23, Trozei Battle and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, Snubbull could be recruited at the first three floors of Western Cave. A non-playable Snubbull also appeared at Pokémon Square and evolved into Granbull after the end of the game at Luminous Cave. Snubbull could also be recruited in Explorers of Time and Darkness at the first eight floors of Steam Cave and the first nineteen basement floors of Marine Resort. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Fall City. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Snubbull appeared at Aqua Resort and Thunder Temple.
Other Appearances
Other Media
- In the Pokémon anime, Snubbull was first shown in the Pikachu special attached to the first Pokémon movie as the leader of a gang of bullies (adding it to the group of second generation Pokémon debuting in the anime), and a Snubbull later had a prominent role in part of the Johto series. It belonged to a rich woman named Madame Muchmoney and did not like being pampered by her. Ash's group helped Muchmoney to realize that in the episode, and she began to change, but it was not enough for Snubbull. This Snubbull loved to bite on the tail of Team Rocket's Meowth, so it ran away from home to pursue Meowth. The Snubbull only appeared in four more episodes throughout the Johto series until it evolved and returned to Muchmoney.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Snubbull was first shown at the end of the Yellow arc, when Silver returned Green's Snubbull to her which had been part of a trade for his Horsea. The Snubbull remained as a main part of Green's team and evolved into Granbull prior to the FireRed/LeafGreen arc.
Trivia
- Its name seems to be a combination of "snub" (which would reflect its upper class appearance) and "bull dog" (which it seems to resemble).
