Debut Pokémon: Emerald Version

Greta is one of the seven Frontier Brains of Hoenn's Battle Frontier appearing in Pokémon: Emerald Version. She is the Arena Tycoon in charge of the Battle Arena.

Background

The leader of the Battle Arena, Greta was an eager combatant who did not easily see others as a challenge. Such was her impression of Brendan/May when they challenged her in Emerald, as she told the trainer that they looked weak. Greta could be challenged after 27 wins and then a second time after 55 wins. After the first defeat. Greta rescinded her opinion of the trainer, confirming that they were indeed tough, and gave Brendan/May the Guts Symbol. After the second defeat, she was infuriated at having lost again but surrendered a gold symbol and promised not to lose next time.

Pokémon Roster

Greta uses the following Pokémon in the first challenge:

In the second challenge, she uses the following Pokémon:

Other Appearances

  • Greta was featured in an episode of the Pokémon anime, where she was said to have trained under Chuck and Brawly, and ran a fighting dojo on the side, with the Battle Arena being located near Saffron City. The amount of Pokémon used in a battle is determined randomly by spinning a wheel between versions. Greta is comically shown to have a competitive personality which is identical to Ash Ketchum's. She used primarily fighting-type Pokémon and was defeated by Ash.
  • She appears in the Pokémon Adventures manga, where she is the fourth opponent whom Emerald faces in his challenge of the Battle Frontier. She is ultimately defeated by him, but then commends him and tries to make him take advantage of the Battle Frontier's accommodations instead of falling asleep in the fields every night.
