Combee is a honeycomb-shaped bee-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation game. Its evolved form is Vespiquen.

Information[edit]

Combee is born as a trio of connected honeycomb creatures. They busily collect and deliver honey to their colony and their queen, their evolved form Vespiquen. At night, groups of one thousand Combee connect to form a beehive and sleep, packed closely together in a lump.

Only female Combee evolve into Vespiquen at Level 21.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Combee could appear at honey-covered trees. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could be found somewhat commonly by headbutting trees at Routes 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 16 and 25, Cerulean City, Vermilion City and Celadon City. It could also appear at the National Park during the Bug-Catching Contest on Thursdays and Saturdays after the National Pokédex was unlocked. A Combee could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's Sinnoh Field course, and it could be transferred from there to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In Black and White, it was found at Route 12.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Combee could be recruited at the sixth through twelfth floors for Apple Woods, while in Explorers of Darkness it could only be recruited in a Wonder Mail mission where it had to be saved from the sixth floor of Apple Woods. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest and Chroma Road. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at the Dangerous Cliff, Light Temple and Dark Temple. In My Pokémon Ranch, Combee was among the Pokémon that could be received from Hayley in a random trade, and it could be transferred from there to Diamond/Pearl (and Platinum only in Japan). Combee also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at the Silent Forest.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, one episode of the Sinnoh series featured a swarm of Combee that protected the hidden Amber Castle, which was filled with rich honey, for their Vespiquen. Combee have also made a variety of minor appearances.
  • In one chapter of Pokémon Adventures, a group of Combee attacked Diamond, Pearl and Platina at Floaroma Town in the Diamond/Pearl arc after a little girl was angered when Diamond and some of the Pokémon had licked the honey from a tree that was for the Combee. Diamond and Pearl were able to placate the little girl with their comedy routine

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "honeycomb" and "bee".
