Electrike is an electric dog-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games.

Information[edit]

Electrike is a Pokémon that generates electricity using friction from the atmosphere and converts the friction from running into electric energy. It stores its electric energy in its long body hair and uses electric charges to stimulate its leg muscles. This gives its legs explosive acceleration power and heightens its reaction speed as a result. Electrike can run faster than the eye can follow. It gives off sparks from all over its body during dry seasons and when storms approach.

Electrike evolves into Manectric at Level 26.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Electrike could be found somewhat commonly at Routes 110 and 118. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they could appear at Valley Windworks during swarms. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Rocky Beach area if enough Plans objects were present.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it was found at the Plains. In Pokémon Trozaei!, it appeared at Secret Storage 5, Huge Storage 4, Endless Level 12 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the first four floors of Mt. Thunder, the first six floors of Lighting Field, the twenty-sixth through thirty-third floors of Wish Cave and the first four basement floors of Oddity Cave. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, he could appear at the third through ninth floors of Far Amp Plains, and a tribe of Electrike led by a Manectric appeared as the boss in Explorers of Sky. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Olive Jungle and Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Electrike appeared at Mt. Latolato and the Thunder Temple.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, one episode of the Hoenn series ended with Wattson finding a friendly Electrike that cheered him up following his defeat by Ash. It helped Ash's Pikachu to stop Team Rocket and became Wattson's latest Pokémon, evolving after another battle against Team Rocket in a later episode. In a later episode, a trainer named Jaco owned an Electrike that he was disappointed in due to its trouble controlling electric attacks, and Ash's group tried to help it. It was captured by Team Rocket and evolved while breaking free. Electrike have also made other minor appearances.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Electrike was featured as one of Wattson's Pokémon during his initial appearance in the Ruby/Sapphire arc and the antics at New Mauville. It evolved into a Manectric by the time Wattson reappeared later in the arc.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "electric" and "strike".
