Pokédex 3D is a free piece of downloadable software for the 3DS. It was the first Nintendo 3DS Download Software to be available and is more accurately described as an application than a game.

Information[edit]

As the name implies, this application is a version of the Pokédex which uses 3D effects to display the Pokémon. There are advanced search features and move lists, and the Pokémon's models can be played with in several ways to display the 3D effect. An AR Viewer feature can be used to take pictures of the Pokémon which can be saved to SD Cards. Stickers are also available.

This Pokédex only covers the 153 Pokémon from Pokémon: Black and White Versions, with no sign so far of the three unannounced event Pokémon. Only eighteen Pokémon entries are available at the beginning (half of them being the starter Pokémon and their families). Three more entries per day can be received with the Spotpass feature, and players can share their entries with each other to receive more. Trading is needed to get all of the entries, each Pokédex 3D will only receive one of several alternate Pokémon (such as only one out of the trio of Pansage, Pansear and Panpour or one form of Pokémon with different forms or gender differences) per game. Finally, seven of the legendary Pokémon can only be unlocked by scanning their matching AR Markers.
