Leon is a pilot in the F-Zero series from the war-ravaged planet of Zou.

Background[edit]

Twelve years ago his parents were killed in a big war on the planet Zou. His species had natural advantages over humans, such as sharper reflexes and natural instincts. He met Super Arrow and Mrs. Arrow when the couple were vacationing on his planet. They decided to give him a chance in racing the King Meteor and were surprised to see his natural skill at driving the machine through the trees expertly.

Given his skill, it was decided he would be sent to the F-Zero Grand Prix to be a symbol of hope for his ailing, war torn planet. Although he wasn't considered especially bright, he proved to be a natural at the F-Zero races, despite his young age. Although he was teased at first by other pilots, his continued performance has given him a good track record. It's his hope to become champion so he can use the money to save the children of Zou from poverty. He also plans to build them a soccer field to play on. After the Grand Prix is over, Leon wishes to take up wrestling.

Space Angler[edit]

  • Creator: Fable Animal
  • Engine: ANIM-01-7x2
  • Weight: 910 kg
  • Body: C
  • Boost: C
  • Grip: A

The Space Angler was designed by Fable, one of the creatures involved in the force that was invading Leon's homeworld. Disgusted by the merciless tactics by his comrades, he double-crossed his own kind and became a hero of Zou by leading them to victory. He engineered the Space Angler to soften the blow of the planet's continued poverty. The machine is notable for being extremely light and having excellent grip for hugging corners.

Trivia[edit]

  • Leon is often mistakenly thought to be a reference to the Star Fox series. This is because of sharing the same name as Leon Powalski and his similar appearance to Wolf O'Donnell. Despite that, Leon is actually a feline.
  • In Leon's movie in F-Zero GX, he is seen with both of his eyes open even though his left eye is usually closed. The damage to his left eye is also not visible in the movie.
  • His planet's name is meant to be a play on and is pronounced the same as zoo, a place where animals are kept.
