Background[edit]

Almost entirely the opposite of her father, her tactical expertise are invaluable to Yellow Comet. During Sturm's first invasion, she conspired with Grit and Drake to find out who the true menace was behind all the war. Unfortunately not even her genius was able to stop Sturm and it took the combined forces of all four nations to bring down Black Hole.

During Sturm's second invasion, she proved herself to her father to be a capable CO. Though when confronted with Lash, she was shown a darker, calculating version of herself. As Sturm put it, 'the girl who likes to play with soldiers'. However, thanks to Kanbei and Sensei she has earned a sense of duty and honor beyond just tactical advantages.

She came to the aid of the Allied Nations later on in the Omega Land war. She found herself often at odds with Lash, whose personality was quite different.

Gameplay[edit]

Sonja is a CO who specialized in Fog of War. As such she can see one space further than other COs. Her unit HP is also veiled but she suffers from 10% bad luck, which can cause her units to cause less damage than normal. She also manages to reduce the defense stars on other units by one.

  • Enhanced Vision - Sonjas regular CO Power, increases her Fog of War sight by 1, reduces the enemy terrain star by 1, as well as being able to see into forests and reefs.
  • Counter Break - Sonja's Super CO Power, increases her Fog of War sight by 2, reduces the enemy terrain star by 3, as well as being able to see into forests and reefs. When attacked, Sonja will strike first as if she was the attacker.

Trivia[edit]

  • In the original releases of the Advance Wars games, Sonja wore glasses and had red clothing in the Japanese versions, while the international versions of the games depicted her without the glasses and made her clothing green instead. In the international version of Dual Strike, she still wore glasses in her alternate outfit. Re-Boot Camp would use a design combining both versions, as she wore the green uniform and glasses.
