Exploud is a powerfully percussive Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the third and final form in Whismur's evolutionary line.

Information

Exploud evolves from Loudred at Level 40. It has sound-generating organs all over its body as well as holes that it emits these sounds from. Exploud adjusts the sound and tone of its cries in order to communicate with others, usually making whistle-like sounds through tubes on its body and only raises its voice when in battle. It violently inhales from the ports on its body when preparing to release a huge bellow. Exploud's bellows are powerful enough to trigger earthquakes and can be heard from over six miles away.

Exploud has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Loudred.

Other Games

In Pokémon Trozei!, Exploud was found at Endless Level 54, Forever Level 4, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. It could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, but in Explorers of Time and Darkness it could be found at the sixteenth through twenty-ninth floors of Concealed Ruins and the eighteenth through twenty-ninth floors of World Abyss. Exploud could also be found in Pokémon Ranger at Panula Cave.

• In the Pokémon anime, one episode of the Hoenn series featured a trainer named Guy whose Loudred evolved in battle with Ash's Treecko, which evolved into Grovyle at the same time. It became disobedient as an Exploud and ran away at first, but it came to trust Guy after he protected him from Team Rocket. Another episode about the filming of a movie with Pokémon actors also had an Exploud acting as the villain. There have also been several other minor appearances by Exploud.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Exploud made a small appearance during the Ruby/Sapphire arc, where it combined its Hyper Voice with that of two Loudred and a group of Whismur to cause Rusturf Tunnel to cave in, which interrupted Ruby's battle with Team Magma.

Trivia

• Its name is a pun on "explode" (due to the effect of its percussive force) combined with "loud".
