Loudred is a loud Pokémon with speaker-like ears that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form in Whismur's evolutionary line and evolves into Exploud.
Information[edit]
Loudred evolves from Whismur at Level 20. They stamp their feet to build up power and bellow to generate ultrasonic waves at massive volume that can blow apart a wood-framed house and trip over trucks. Loudred usually uses its voice to punish foes. Its ears also act as loudspeakers to generate the ultrasonic waves. Loudred shouts loudly by inhaling air and uses its well-developed stomach muscles to exhale. However, Loudred are temporarily deafened following a round of shouting, which is considered to be its weakness.
It evolves into Exploud at Level 40.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Loudred was uncommonly found at Victory Road. It could also be found at the Desert Underpass in Emerald. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they could appear at Mt. Coronet while using the Poké Radar.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, they are found at the Cave. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appears at Huge Storage 4 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, Loudred could be recruited at the ninth through fourteenth floors of Howling Forest, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was recruitable at the first fifteen basement floors of Concealed Ruins and World Abyss. In Explorers, a non-playable Loudred also appears as a sentry for the Wigglytuff Guild and loudly wakes the player up on a daily basis. In Pokémon Ranger, Loudred was found at Panula Cave.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, a Loudred made recurring appearances in episodes of the Hoenn series set at Dewford Island. It was asleep in various locations and would angrily attack whoever woke it up, usually Team Rocket on one occasion it drove away Professor Birch instead. A later episode featured a trainer named Guy who had a Loudred that evolved while battling Ash's Treecko, which evolved into Grovyle at the same time. In another episode, a trainer named Mitch Mitchum used a Loudred as his only Pokémon to try to catch a Jigglypuff for his daughter due to its immunity to Jigglypuff's singing. Loudred have also made other minor appearances, and the Loudred from Explorers of Time and Darkness appeared in the games' anime special.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, two Loudred and an Exploud made a small appearance in the Ruby/Sapphire arc where they combined their Hyper Voice with that of a group of Whismur to cause parts of Rusturf Tunnel to collapse during Ruby's battle with Courtney. Platina later used a Loudred as a rental Pokémon at the Battle Arcade in the Platinum arc.
