Jellicent is a large-headed, ghostly jellyfish-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the evolved form of Frillish.

Information[edit]

Jellicent evolves from Frillish at Level 40. They propel themselves by expelling absorbed water from their bodies. Jellicent's favorite food is life energy. Because of this, all ships as well as their crews which wander into Jellicent's habitat wind up lost, vanished or sunken.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Jellicent had a rare chance of appearing when surfing in rippling water at Routes 4, 7 and 18, Driftveil City and P2 Laboratory.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "jellyfish" and "magnificent", in reference to its glamorous appearance.
  • Male Jellicent are blue, while females are pink. This gender difference was shared by Frillish, and this evolutionary line along with Unfezant are the only fifth generation Pokémon with any gender differences.
  • The evolutionary line was originally designed as a pure Water-type based on princes and princesses, but during development they were forced to be made a ghost-type as well to balance out the game's distribution of types. The addition of frightening elements to their Pokédex entries apparently disappointed their original designer.
